Guardians of the Galaxy #19

As great as this book was this month I can't help imagine how outstanding it would've been with the pencils of Paul Pelletier. He's done the majority of this run already so to not have him on board during what is arguably their most important issue is a little disappointing. I say little because it's still another DnA classic.

This title (these writers!) is not afraid to take risks, not afraid to change things per se, and even when characters we like die or questionable subplots take place, we don't question them as much as enjoy their differences. We believe! I guess it's also easier to get by the editors and chiefs when the names of the heroes aren't Spider-Man and Hulk.

Regardless, DnA's innovation is something to savor. Without a doubt, Realm of Kings is going to be great.

Wait, are they dead? I mean, I know it said they were, but with all this cosmic time-displaced alternate reality wackiness ensuing, I'm not sure...

At least Rocket's still kicking!

It's sad...but if characters we liked never died these books would soon get stagnant. Superheroes ALWAYS come back. So it's just temporary, although temporary could be a few months or a few years or 30 years. With Racoon around, do you really need Cosmo too? Just sayin...

Yes, yes I do, a psychic Russian Dog Cosmonaught, how could that not be neccesary in Guardians? I admit, Racoon is awesome, but I still wants me some Cosmo.

Damn, they just went haywire offing people in this one didn't they?

And
Spoiler:
too? Gotta hand it to DnA though, they sure do know how to put together a book, I'm still a little depressed after reading that one.

racoon and cosmo were great together. it made for great banter. as for gamora i didn't think she added much to the team. i would rather see her in nova than this title

Yeah, Nova needs some Guardians in his (their?) book to spice it up.

I'm not sure I really think any of them are going to stay dead. It just seems to me that with the crazy stuff happening with time at the moment anything could happen. For example, last issue a few of them were killed in different ways and then thanks to time travel they were back again this issue.

Wes Craig is all wrong for the art on this book. This issue lacked any gravity when it should have due to all the characters looking like crazy cartoon characters.

What I love about this book is, DnA have really had this thing planned out from the get go. If you guys remember all the way back to #1, Mantis said there would be a traitor among the team, and sure enough Adam "betrayed" them by turning all Magus. These guys know what they're doing for the long haul.

I trust DnA to write a series well! They really turned the reboot Legion around and made them cool...until DC rebooted them again. I hated that!

I'm hoping the Fault will somehow factor into their resurrections. Like, Earth-616 Cosmo is dead, but hey, here's Earth-5697's Cosmo, from the reality where Tigra forgot to brush her teeth one morning.

#20 was decent. Kinda felt like not much happened, but that's okay after all the bloodshed last issue.

I agree. This book is always good, and Aussie was right on the $ when he said this book would have more to do with The Fault than even the other Realm minis. For some reason, websites didn't review this book. For some reason, I don't feel like it either. But we all know what excellent characters DnA write here and the artwork is pretty impeccable. There's no reason for a review, cause if you like cosmic MU, u need this book.

Guardians of the Galaxy #20

Decent issue, but I miss the rest of the crew: Gamora, Cosmo, Mantis, etc. Hopefully they're somehow stuck in the Fault or something. But I loved Rocket Raccoon's inner monologue when he was looking for Drax Laughing

Agreed and it was a relief to have Brad Walker back on art duties. I think Wes Craig's art is all wrong for this title. In my opinion Walker has improved significantly since his first issue on the book and I rather like his style. Did anyone notice the size of Groot's drink when they were all sitting in the bar? Funny stuff.

They're is some messed up stuff coming out of The Fault. I liked Rocky's line "I've found the place where all the revolting in the universe comes from" - that summed it up. That scene really evoked the original Alien movie.

The best thing about this book is DnA's ability to mix humour with drama and action.

GOTG #21

Never a dull moment in GOTG. The dangers of the fault are broadened when new rivals the Luminals arrive to steal some of the Guardians' thunder. Moondragon might be the focal point here--along with her vengeful father Drax (doesn't she look older than he does?)--but it's Peter Quill who steals the show with his snarky sarcastic language and Rocket Racoon's nifty quibbles about Jarhead and all the rediculousness that is the council. The Church of Universal Truth is a higher annoyance than usual, as their presence combines the hooded alien look with those of marching zombies, and seeing their heads splattered by a flying would-be-messiah jellyfish makes it all the more pleasurable.

Brad Walker should never leave the book. It's not often you get close-ups as sharp and as daring as these in cosmic books. His expressions on Drax and his would-be demon lover are imperitive to Moondragon's fallout. We question whether she's going to make it too, though despite how horrofic the circumstances are, we get a good kick out of seeing them.

Humor keeps this book from taking itself too seriously (see X-Necrosha, all of it) and that's the winning edge Abnett & Lanning have that seperates their writing from everyone else's characters not in Marvel's NYC.

4/5 - Just me or all these books great this week?

I highly enjoyed #22. Especially the last page reveal. Very Happy

And we got another classic Star-Lord line: "I'd flash you my business card, but my hands are full of guns." lol!

Great issue, we get one storyline resolved, and another furthered, I know I ask all the time, but do the Guardians ever catch a break? I guess they kind of got one this issue, but they're about to enter a shit storm of epic proportions.

That last page reveal was awesome though, we all kind of suspected it, but seeing is believeing.
