Everyone compared this acquirement to the WB/DC deal, bult the real story is far more complicated and I had no clue.

Cool story. It kind of shows you how businesses change hands very quickly and how business are bought up.

Now I have to get back to watching Ms. Magnificant.

I read an article on Bleeding Cool about this. I hope this isn't the case. Started collecting sketches this year and it's been fun doing to do. I hope it's just an isolated incident. Could you imagine a con without a busy Artist Alley?

Apparently they didn't start it now; it was a Marvel policy for awhile, but people started paying notice only after the Disney deal and made a connection.

That is absolute rubbish. DC is fairly diligent about taking down auctions (including ones for charity) but I have never seen nor heard of Marvel busting auctions. More than that, DC only takes down the auction, the Ebay account stays open. This is the first I've heard of outright banning artists. This really sucks, I use Ebay to sell my art all the time. Sketch cards are hugely popular on the bay, this is really going to fuck up our business.

There are a few artist and collectors worried about Disney steping in and trying to putting a stop to artist sketches and prints under copyright laws. Disney has a reputation of coming down hard on people who infringe on their copyright protected products.

Not really since I've never been to a Con. But I can imagine how bad it would suck with out a busy Artist Alley.

From what I understand and have heard, Disney, they bought Marvel for a few reasons. Two of them include trying to get the more younger males interested in Disney. They have the market when it comes to girls when it comes to products like Disney's Princess line or High School Musical, but I have heard that Disney doesn't really have the boy market like they might have once had. Bringing in Marvel solves that. Also, with Marvel's success with live action movies, Disney is hoping that they can get some of that Marvel movie money since Disney hasn't had a lot of success in their live action movies as of late. From what I heard about the theme parks, I heard that Universal's Island of Adventures has a deal set up so while Disneyland could have Marvel characters, Disneyworld can't under that deal.
