Everyone has certain bands or artists that they simply can't stand, but what about those that you personally don't care for but definitely see merit in their music? My picks are Tori Amos and The Grateful Dead. While I respect them as artists, I never want to listen to them and usually turn the station when a song of theirs comes on the radio.
Anyone else have this reaction to a certain musician or group?

I agree with Debaser.... The Grateful Dead would be on the top of my hit list.

Jewel...I think she's a great song writer but my wife listened to her sooooo much when she first hit the scene that I could go without hearing her ever again...Oh and Fall Out Boy,The Black Keys, and David Lee Roth.

Shocked Really?! Odd.....

Anyway band I respect, but don't like?

No Doubt. I give it up to gwen for being a positve role modle for all ythe young ladies out there, but fuck me, her music is awful!

Artist I like but don't respect?

Kanye West. Dude's got a moderatly tight flow, but he's a pompous jackass.

I kinda like him because he's a pompous jackass. He says some very entertaining things and is just good to make fun of. Gotta admit though, he's definitely got talent.

You talkin' to me?

Yeah, can't stand his voice and I think the music is way too slow and doomy. I love every other singer they've had though! I really like the Tony Martin years. Very underrated. And Born Again with Ian Gillan is amazing.

I feel that way about Conway Twitty. My mom listened to his records throughout my childhood,
and I could have cheerfully remained ignorant of his "talent."

The Misfits, I just don't feel it but I like their look.

I liked Nirvana when I was in high school, but I almost never listen to them now. Every year, Kurt Cobain seems less the "voice of a generation" and more just a bipolar junkie with a little songwriting talent. I love the Foo Fighters, though, so that's one good thing that came from Nirvana.

I think I can go with just a long list of bands I used to admire and not much anymore, but respect for them is still there and I'll feel good listening to them occasionally. Metallica for example.

I stopped paying attention to Metallica when they covered Bob Seger.

"I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that..."

I don't know him, but based on that quote, I think I'd like to kick him in the gonads.

It's Owen Wilson's character in the movie "Zoolander."
He's a male model... and he's just so hot right now (according to Will Farrell's character Wink)

Have you heard anything from Death Magnetic? I love it. The production isn't great, but it's nowhere near St. Anger-level.

I've heard Death Magnetic is good, but like I said, I stopped listening to them altogether around 1998.

Van Halen.

I can appreciate the talent, but their songs grow tiresome pretty quickly
