im not sure how i feel about Lady GaGa. I've heard things(besides the fact that she's gotta peeeenise) but what i've heard from her isn't terrible, and at the very least her videos and performances aren't terrible. i think a cousin of mine told me about her staging like a suicide or something during a performance, which i thought was kinda cool. I've heard that her music and stuff is drawn from/influenced by artists like Queen and David Bowie. And while that's a good source to be drawing from, and ill even agree that she does kindof remind me of Jackson in his early Thriller days, i just don't know how much i can like her stuff...

No she didn't. Marilyn Monroe was an actor, not a musician.
The only thing they share in common is their hair color.....and no I'm not shocked, nothing is original anymore.

But Madonna copied her image for quite awhile.
But really, here's the thing. Why can't this be homage? Why can't Gaga say, "I'm really inspired by how Madonna was an icon in pop during the 80's, I want to be that for the new generation"
Alice Cooper was another whose look was inspired by film. Should people start calling him a rip off now? Or like Madonna and now Gaga, found inspiration from the past?
I dunno, I'm not a huge fan or anthing, but I just think it's unfair to call her a rip off just because of the use of similar tactics

Madonna re-used her image for one video, she didn't base her whole career around it.
Lady Gaga is a product. She couldn't make it with her Piano until she started ripping people off.

No, she was an actress and singer. Which at the time was pretty common. Even actors dabbled in singing because that's just what entertainment was back then.

Saying someone is or isn't a singer is based purely on one's perspective of what a singer is. Marilyn could hold a note, she sounded good, and to me, that's a singer.
