Mantle against mantle should be interesting. Wonder if Robinson will go indepth with human-condition and legacy with these confronations. I imagine so, just how so?

Me, too. They've established themselves as better than JLA in a lot of ways for those in the know.

A decent kick-off to the mini, IMO.

^ Good to know. I was hoping that it'd at least be fun. Like side-minis usually are with events.

Meh, underwhelming like most of the other Blackest Night tie-in minis. This one was rather boring though IMO. When I first saw that Kal-L was gonna be a Black Lantern, I immediately wanted to see his interaction with Power Girl. But at this point its lost all potential luster for me.

The most shocking part of the issue was the cop with the name tag "S. Rogers" getting his heart ripped out. Mad

I'm completely with you and I have to say I'm starting to be a little concerned at James Robinson's writing lately. I thought he was supposed to be one of the better writers.

Seemed to be a few errors or things missing or poorly done in this issue for me:

- Power Girl refers to Kal-L as her cousin and her uncle on the same page. Isn't this the kind of thing editors should pick up?

- Judomaster - isn't she supposed to have had some sort of relationship with Damage? Although it's been poorly handled and only just hinted at like most of the characterisation for the newer members of the JSA (we hardly know them or what motivates them - they're just there) wouldn't you think that they'd devote some attention to her dealing with the fact that her boyfriend has just been killed?

- Mr Terrific asks Jay to collect GL, Lightning and Stargirl. When we see them back at STAR Labs Cyclone's there too. Why'd she go back there?

- The building at the end looks suspiciously like the artist drew the brownstone JSA headquarters but then someone realised that's actually demolished at the moment so they hastily stuck a STAR Labs sign on the front to cover up the mistake.

Yeah, seems like he's come down with a very serious case of Loeb Flu.

I believe, in her initial Silver Age history (which is valid, considering her origins), Kara lived with the Kents under the guise of being Clark's niece while she perfected her super-powers. While this is a niggling little slip, this is probably the excuse they'd fall back on if pressed to acknowledge it.

Yeah, the first issue was underwhelming. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that great. I too am questioning James Robinson's writing abilities. His JLA stuff has sucked, and this wasn't great either. His Superman is okay, and I did like his BN: Superman.

The uncle/cousin thing with PG irritated me. Even going by Doug's explanation it still shouldn't happen. It was a mistake pure and simple as far as I'm concerned.

I have to agree. I thought this was just about the best work I've seen from Eddy Barrows. I'm not finding the story anything spectacular but I do like that people are still wanting to believe the Black Lanterns when they're duping them. I think it would be human instinct to want to believe that your loved one is back and not evil.

Not too bad. Plus, it looks like we'll finally see Powergirl and Kal-L meet up next issue.
