We all knew that this was happening, and knew that it was going to happen all over the place after the whole Super Boy thing over at DC. But now the Kirby's are trying to add characters that jack didn't have much involvment in creating. I have to think other than the complicated properties and licenses that this suite also has a lot to do with the Disney/Marvel thing not going through.

Huh... Whoever doesn't seem to know that Kirby was the artist initially sked to draw Spider-Man and is partially responsible to the creation of the character. I agree that his heirs still have no actual claim here, but saying Kirby had nothing to do with Spider-Man is misleading.

Two things I don't understand:

1. Who sues who? Your posts and the beginning od the blog post make it sound like the Kirbys are suing, but the quote in the blog says Marvel is suing. I assume it's a counter lawsuit?

2. What do you mean by "...this suite also has a lot to do with the Disney/Marvel thing not going through"? The merge was approved just by the dawn of the year.

The buy out was aproved by the share-holders but has not been aproved by the SEC.

This stuff annoys me. Until it actually effects the characters we all love and enjoy, I'll ignore it.

Thanks for finding the articles, guys. Both of these links just show me that the Kirby estate has far too much money as it is to be able to create a lawsuit out of this farce, and are, of course, just trying to obtain more, if not eventually the entire publisher. Which, being that it is a billion dollar market, wouldn't see why the greedy wouldn't try.

the more things that come out, the more I think people are inherently greedy. I understand if you have a character and a comic book company hires you to use that character. But he created the character while working for them, should be simple enough..... Disney is used to this sort of thing, their lawyers are prob ready....

I understand the varied comments from fans and geeks all over the web, it's such a polarizing topic that you can't really tell who's right and who doesn't with the artist in question been dead fol almost 16 years. With that said, I feel ashamed for finding this funny.
