When in the trailers or in any of the ads have they said that it is set in 2001 New York? They might say that somewhere, but I have never heard that.

Actually yes, very much so, a movie made today that is set in new York in 2001 will obviously be about the towers falling. Unless it's a biography of a real person (hint: it's not) a movie going out of it's way to be set there and then will definately feature 9-11 in some way.
