And can I just step in here for a second and ask everyone to keep their cool? Things haven't gotten out of hand as of yet, but there's two very clear sides to this discussion, and I'm sure we'd all prefer this not make a headline on Bleeding Cool.

I was never looking for an argument either.. and I just said that certain things were bothering me because as you guys said on here.. NONE OF US NEED TO LIE.. so that's why nothing was making sense.. and I was only trying to clear up some of the mix-up. There had been mass confusion between Benji and Spat that weekend and it makes sense now that the one had been mistaken for the other one..
As for "rip us a new one" comment? I was disagreeing with what I knew Spat wouldn't have said and done.. BEFORE I realized that this was all a big mix-up.. I've admitted that on here and went the extra mile to get the correct story as well..and by the way.. if someone was attacking one of your closest friends.. wouldn't you get pissed off? You know you would...

Well Mike I am sorry that you took it that way. To be honest I never heard of you until you came here and sorry for that. I looked you up and saw that you were on Jackass but I don't remember seeing you on that but anyway, I'll look next time. I will stop referring to you and your friends as has beens.

My biggest complaint was Wizard World in the begining was about the comics, (yes I have been a comic nerd for my entire life and I do not regret it) and there would be a few actors/wrestlers, whatever. You cannot deny that when Spat came on board that became the focus. I understand what Pop Culture means but then take the word "comic" out of the title when that is not the focus.

Again, I really enjoy you guys coming here and giving us some behind the scenes scoop.

There is defnitly no need to insult anyone. There are clearly people that were treated right and people that were treated wrong. shouldn't society be filled with people who treat everyone equally, perferably right?

I totally agree with that issue Spidey. Once wizard pissed on marvel and dc. and everyone bailed out. they had to fill the void. if you;ve noticed. most of the who's who of artists have bailed. I was talking with a rather famous comic artist at wwc and he says to me. "this may be my last year at wizard. I'm the huge star here. and this shouldn't be. I look around and my line is 40 people deep and I'm no where near as good as my peers. speaking of. where are my peers?" this is the mentality most artists have. they wont do wizard. wizard grabs who they can to fill the holes. thats where Spat came in. he filled up with people to draw people in. to get those door sales. Definitely a smart move but you can only bail water with a cup for so long before the ship sinks.
I think, not for sure, but assume that once spat came in. he did everything he could to bring people to the show and since comics were blackballing ww. he turned to pop culture. does anyone remember wizard magazine from lets say 1998? it was an inch thick and awesome. what are they now? 45 pages with at least 8 pages dedicated to wizard world conventions and which stars will be there. So you are correct. it is no longer a comic convention as much as a pop culture event.

It's cool Mike and yes you are correct about the people he brought in. I was at the Philly show this past year and it took over 4 and a half hours for everyone to get in to see Patrick Stewart.

Can I ask you a serious question....do you know what exactly Wizard did that pissed off Marvel and DC? Actually can anybody answer that question because I really don't know. All I know is I want them to come back so I can get my funny books signed

I've heard many rumors. but the one that I've heard the most is that Wizard slammed a certain con and then made marvel and dc choose between that con and wizard and didn't give them time to do both. when the giants balked, they were told we don't need you anyway. again perhaps just a rumor. but it seems likely,.

Preaching to the choir, man. PoP! would not be around if it weren't for Wizard. The founders of PanelsOnPages.com were writing for Wizard, and a majority of this community were formerly of the Wizard Universe Message Boards. There was a love for Wizard, for the community, and for the relationships we developed. When Wizard began shitcanning their talent, the conventions took a nose dive, and eventually, the WUMB was shut down for good, that was when many here washed their hands of Wizard Entertainment.

I, myself, am very interested in hearing what the man has to say, if, in fact, he has anything to say at all. Hurtful things have been said in this thread, and some are arguably just. However, we all know it's a much different situation when the person is in the room.

I expect everyone to be on their best behavior. I'm not implying you shouldn't speak your mind, and that a discussion shouldn't continue, but if he's willing to participate, I would appreciate if cooler heads prevailed.

The rumor I heard was that wizard took months to get Marvel a refund back on their booth space. My understanding was that if Marvel met certain requirements they would give them back a part or all of the money spent on booth space, and wizard kept telling them the check was in the mail.

Joshua.. I'm not trying to cause problems so please don't take this the wrong way.. really.. but this really does sound like Benji, the Con Director who was in charge of the vendors and Artists for that show... There was a ton of confusion that weekend between Beeji and Spat that weekend (why I'll never know..) but yeah Benji was a real dick to everyone.. including people on general and talk abut a sexist pig...the phrase for the weekend was.. "That's a Benji thing to say!" and it didn't mean anything good. He was fired after that con as a result...
