Comics has seriously lost one of its best. McDuffie always challenged racial perceptions in comics, and for that he deserves to be remembered for a long fucking time.

This is just beyond a sad day for comic fans. R.I.P.

It's thanks to Dwayne that most kids think of Green Lantern as a kick-ass black man, not to mention the awesome role that Vixen played in JLU. And Static? HNNNGH, STATIC FOR LIFE. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dwayne McDuffie

UPDATE 1:25 PM PST: CBR has learned that McDuffie died from complications due to a surgical procedure performed Monday evening.

That is absolutely tragic news. He was way too young and I really feel for his family and friends.

I loved Static Shock the cartoon and ever since watching I have wanted to read the comics it was based off of. But in my area I can't find any. But thanks to Static Shock it also kind of rekicked my love of comics back then because I would go through back bins and not find Static comics but I would find old series I loved when I was younger. So in a way it was because of Dwayne McDuffie I got back into comics

R.I.P. Mr. McDuffie, I am so shocked and saddened by this right now I really enjoyed his work in comics and in animation. Condolences to his family and friends.

Wow I'm shocked. Just saw this and it hit me like a ton of bricks. RIP Mr. McDuffie, you were truly one of the greats.
