Aside from a few of random panels (like the blonde "Jane Doe" in the pink thong), I have to say this first issue is not "suck". After months of people bitching about Jason Todd as a gun totin' Bats, I gotta say he looks like a bat out of hell.

Just read it. This was *really* good.

I haven't read the Batbooks since the Ra's al Ghul arc, so fill me in-- is Jason Todd as Bats the general train of thought here? Has anything been leading to this or is everyone just assuming?

BTW- I think that Bat costume is awesome in a really dark, grim 'n' gritty over the top way. Speaking of which... until I saw the guns blazing, I was thinking maybe Jean-Paul Valley was up to his old tricks again. But maybe he still is? Traded in swords for guns?

thumbs up to the "villainous return". One of my favorite DC villains. I just hope we get a decent explanation for how.

It hasn't been confirmed that it's Jason, but it's the common train of thought. Mostly because of similar fighting techniques and the assumption that just about everyone is going to try and be Batman in the upcoming months

Ditto on our returning villain. It's no secret that the War Drums/Games/Crimes Trilogy was amongst my favorite Bat-arcs. Having Roman back rocks, but how indeed?

This was ok. The $3.99 kept me away mostly, but I enjoyed what I read. Not the best thing in the world, but not horrible either. I think I am most looking forward to the Batman and Robin book that is coming out of this story more than anything else.

I'm super-late on this, but I just read the first issue and I want to talk about it now.

I liked the upheaval, the villains galore. The "I Am Batman" guy is pretty sweet. Black Mask shaking things up. All these gangs, all the call-ups to others to help out.

One thing that killed me was the Damien part. Everyone acted so uncharacteristically. Damien wussed out when confronted by Killer Croc and Poison Ivy. The first of whom had just ate the girl who he was with. Damien would be extra pissed over that, not reluctant for a confrontation. Oracle would not have ejected a young girl into the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of a chaotic Gotham. The girl'd have been safer in the Batmobile, even though it did crash. How did Croc tackel the Batmobile and got to the girl... Poison Ivy would not have let Croc eat a young girl, she'd have stopped him. What the frig is with comics? Girl is introduced and is killed instantly. I mean, way to feed the stereotype of WiRS. Don't mean to bitch, it's just that part really unconnected me from the story at that moment. "Oh, Damien has a feisty, Suicide Girl-ish chick he's showing off to. Neat. Oh...she's been eatin'. ...okay. Rolling Eyes"

Wow, that went on a bit long. Heh. Anyways, can't wait to see how things pan out with all the characters coming in to help out. Where the fuck is Superman? Wink

Finished it. One-shots included. Thought it was pretty good, specifically the one-shots, despite the mishap that was Damien in the main title. Daniels did not capture his character at all. At all! But, other than a few other mess-ups with characters' personas, the story was well done, through and through.

Keep in mind, despite his tough talk Damian is still only a 10 year old kid. He can badmouth villains in the cushy safety of the batcave all day long, but actually having an 8ft. monster standing in front of you would be enough to make any man shit his pants, let alone a 10yr old kid.

Read it and the companion trade. Not bad, but not great either.

But it isn't his character. This kid faced a graveyard of ghosts and ghouls, seen things like the Lazarus Pit and killings since he had vision...a sexy lady who controls plants and a big guy with sharp teeth aren't gonna make him...I just felt it strayed.

I literally remember thinking, "Is this an oldschool Image Comics writer?" Laughing Sure was. He created The Tenth.

But, again, not to rip on it hardcore. It was fun. Daniel did an alright job. How he was thrown that bone, though, I'll never know.

I've really only read the the main mini series and i found that just so-so and it felt like they tried to jam too much for just three issues imho.

I dunno, I think having him show fear and reluctance is more realistic, and preferred.
