Based heavily on Byrne's work at the time.

I don't know about heavily based, but it contains a lot of elements from the Man of Steel mini-series. I mean, if they're including stories about Clark as a super-powered kid in Smallville, that directly conflicts with the MOS origin. Wink

And I was at BestBuy today, too! I totally should have looked for it.

Which reminds me: now that DC owns Superboy again, will they release the Superboy stories excluded from the Filmation Superman release?

I'm enjoying them currently, as a matter of fact. tongue

As for the '88 series--Eh, no thanks.

It only lasted so long for reason. But, I get nostalgia, so I won't knock anyone for liking it.

For those who haven't heard of it, next, Smallville fans'll be baffled to know that there was already a Superbody live-action show.

Laughing It looks so bad.

It was. I hated that show. I can't believe it stayed on for so long.

Watching the series again, it's rather remarkable. It borrows from the Superman of the Silver Age and Post-Crisis, the films, and Super Friends. Of course, that gorgeus hand drawn art and symphonic soundtrack that helped to make Centurions one of my favorite cartoons really helps in this assesment as well. Really a marvel not unlike Spectacular Spider-Man although the glaring omission of an ongoing narrative ala Spider-Man is what keeps it from living up to such a statement. Pity, likely a sign of the time it was made in. A treasure none-the-less.

Hm. They got to use the John Williams score for the intro.

...that's actually pretty freaking cool. I might give it a shot.
