Looks good this year. I gotta go for Dexter as always though. Surprised Avatar got a few nods. I think UP will take animated although I'd like to see Princess and the Frog win. Inglorious Basterds??? really? That movie was crap.

I haven't seen many of the movies on the list but mean to soon. I'm pulling for The Hurt Locker to take all the awards it's up for, but since I loved it so much, it'll probably get ignored. That tends to happen a lot during awards season.

Where did all those movies came from?! scratch

Mad Men and its leading actors should and will win.

If Dexter would've been nominated for te second half of Season 4, I would've been all for it, but since it's not whatever.

Can't believe Breaking Bad and especially Bryan Cranston were ignored.

Hung became really good after the first few episodes, while Nurse Jackie lost it mid-season. The nomination to Thomas Jane and EdieFalco are enough recognition for their first seasons. Despite some funny moments, these two are no more comedies than House.

If The Office and Steve Carell don't win, someone at the Globes shall pay with their life. Seriously.

I have said it once and I will say it again....I am sick to death of Meryl Streep getting nominated for everything she is Mad OK rant over.

I want to see IB pick up some awards including one for Waltz. I think Coraline will beat out UP.

As much as I liked the movie I'm glad the music didn't get recognition. Randy Newman needs to stop scoring movies.

^ That was BRILLIANT. I heart Ricky Gervais.

Avatar winning Best Pic was a travesty. I have yet to see it, because I really don't have much interest in it, but I still doubt it's Best Picture material. They'll probably give Golden Boy Jim the Oscar now too. Let the Avatar backlash commence!

It's not. Best visual effects? Absolutely, but not Best Picture. Especially when it's contending with film juggernauts like The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, and Inglourious Basterds. I'm at a loss.

QFT

Avatar has no business winning, much less being nominated, for Best Picture.

I don't understand how a picture can win best picture when no actors from it are nominated. You're saying no one in the movie was even worthy to be nominated, that the acting is at best, okay, but the film is the greatest? Things may start with a script, be molded by a director, but the most important part of something being truly great are the actors, IMO. A bad script can be overcome by great actors (to at least make something passable) But a great script is nothing without great actors.

I'm just hoping there'll be enough of a backlash that the Academy grows a spine and gives Best Picture to a more deserving movie.

James Cameron seems like such a pompous douche. I really like all of his movies, but can't stand the guy. Just because a movie made the most money, doesn't mean it's the best movie. Anything with Michelle Rodriquez in it, should NOT win best picture. I haven't seen The Hurt Locker yet, but I'll watch it before the Oscars for sure. Inglorious Basterds was only alright in my opinion.

I don't know how many people watch Mad Men, but I do, and it's great. You can't say a movie shouldn't win just because it made a lot of money and then turn around and say a television program shouldn't win because no one watches it (though I'm sure lots of people do). The size of the audience doesn't effect the quality of the product.
