I heart X-Force. Perhaps one of the top five of my current list. Probably settled in right under Deadpool.

X-Force #20

This arc has made many of us forget the mishappenings of Messiah War (what a war that was eh?) and has made X-23 a star. If she's not nearly as big as the other Marvel "divas" yet, she's at least a star in this book.

I personally don't have too much of a problem with the arcs changing artists from Choi to Crane as there have been arcs drawn wonderfully from Crane in the past (the one leading up to the Messiah War, for example). Of course, as the writing goes south oftentimes the art gets the shaft too, so it's merely a product of it's own script. Kyle & Yost, overall, have had a great run and X-Necrosha looks like Crane's cup of tea.

I give this an eh, I just don't care for this arc. Nothing against X-23.

And Necrosha was pretty mediocre.

It was pretty enjoyable, I thought. I love how X-23 is so calm throughout while lugging her dismembered arm around. She's so adorable!

Maybe I enjoyed this arc so much because it followed up Messiah War. ANYTHING could've been an improvement over that Smile

Really, this book's art has been top-notch and has returned to the solidarity it had prior to the crossover.

well there was onething i liked about the crossover and that was to see what it would be like if deadpool was on the team. and now in deadpool he is trying to get on the x-men. i think it would be cool if he ended up on x-force

I thought the last Deadpool issue was pretty stale. Let's hope it gets better. And yes, I agree, Deadpool joining X-Force actually makes sense and gives this overly violent and serious "mutants are going extinct" type book the sense of humor it drastically needs.

This arc was alright. Nothing all that special. Things had better pick back up with Necrosha, or I will be sorely disappointed. And seriously, in 4 issues, they couldn't get X-23's arm back on?! DP does it weekly!!

Although I created the Necrosha post, I'm not sure if it's worth putting inside this one as most of it is based on X-Force, with that said...

X-Force #21

Pretty shocking ending, eh? In this review I'm going to neither of what you're used to: compare this to Blackest Night and crap on Clayton Crane's artwork. Clearly, Crane has been the star of this show, depicting the horrors of mutants coming back from the dead. His dark, clay mannerisms and frightening action shots are what's needed for something so sinister.

Necrosha is not something so explained, or reviewed, as the masterminds behind this evil deed, Bastion & Selene, make use of Genosha in haunting the newly reborn Utopia. The surprise fights are frantic, the splash pages absolutely haunting, and the storyline straight-forward with enough juice to keep us interested.

This isn't merely Marvel Zombies hungry for the sake of. There is some dangerous planning going on behind the scenes and the final pages are there for our own brain-twisting pleasure. Necrosha does so far what the Messiah War failed to do: take us right down to the thick of things, not being afraid to make changes in the status quo, and shoot to impact the mutant world as we know it. My only question: What about Hope?

I don't think Bastion and Selene are working together. I almost definately think they are not. Bastion wants to irradicat mutants, Selene is bringing them back.

X-Force #21 has definately lived up to the title showing all these resurections, the thing is I had no idea that Eli Bard could even do that at the level he is. selene has to be amping his powers in a major way.

I am glad to see that Synch and Skinn were ressed, It makes me wonder if they will bring back Mondo or the ever worthless Maggot. It appears any and all are fair game. I just don't see how this is not affecting the marvel universe as a whole, this is a very big deal and I would expect HAMMER to be al over it.

There is a lot going on in the 616 and it is all pure win, including this title.

Well, X-Force Annual was certainly a change of pace to say the least.

The first story was alright, but man the Deadpool "back up" story was so frickin hilarious I nearly fell out of my chair.

"Listen Kid, I need you to take the hit on this one, I'm kind of on probation."

So many great moments packed in just a couple of pages, looks like there's a weapon against Selene's reanimated troopers as well.

Seriously, the second story is worth the price of the issue by itself, Kyle and Yost pull off some of the best DP writing of the year.

Synch was brought back? *Throws a parade*
I wish they would bring him back from the dead for good. He was one character that had potential. All they needed to do was put some sort of limiting factor on him if they were too worried about him becoming too powerful (like a time limit a la Rogue). I know they're bringing back the other Everett (Barnacle) so they might as well bring the better one back. Laughing

As a side note, I didn't realize that Unus the Untouchable died. I know he supossedly died due to his forcefield but I know they found him among Genosha's wreckage so why he would be brought back is beyond me. In any case, I'm surprised to see any Generation X people since it seems Marvel has sworn them off, for whatever reason.

Wolverine/Deadpool Annual #1

Sorry. But I had to. You know where this review is going. Luckily, this annual has a few things going for it, and no, it's not Robert Kirkman. As Invincible and Walking Dead's resident indy-comic auteur, he pens a pretty standard X-Force tale featuring Wolverine, of all people. To say it's standard fair wouldn't be fair to those who write standard fair (hello Robinson's Superman!); it's more like been-there-done-that a thousand times over. The crazy art stylings of Jason Pearson save this from being downright bad, as well as a fun elevator sequence. The moral of this story goes unresolved with a pretty rushed ending; too bad, because despite how usual this story was, I was rather enjoying it.

Leave it to X-Force buds Kyle & Yost to pick up the slack. In their 12-page backup--which should've been the main feature anyway--they write up a pretty funny Deadpool and add along some surprising guests. These include undead villains and Selene references, so the tying-in to the current quo of Necrosha was a nice touch. While it leaves as a forgettable humor bit, it's not hard to see the potential of the story. Gotta love the splash page too. What a poster that'd be.

For $3.99, which I often complain about lately with too many books lacking the proper substance, X-Force Annual #1 actually packs quite a punch. It's just too bad most of it means nothing but 10-minutes of fun in the long run.

3/5 Snikts - Just glad this wasn't $5

Meh. I just don't care for this story. It's boring me. Plus, it is so similar to Blackest Night. I know it's not exactly the same, but it is very close and Blackest Night is a billion times better.

The art here is also really hurting my enjoyment of the story. I just hate Clayton Crain's art. It's hard to follow and just plain ugly. Everyone has creepy perma-smiles. It's like a creepy Crest commercial. And like I said, it's hard to follow. I can't tell what is going on. It's dark and muddy.

^ Yup. I dropped this like 3 issues ago. It has the right idea, but the execution could be better. I think the Daredevil/Spider-Woman style of coloring would look SO much better in this book, I'm with you on the 'muddy'/gloomy art. It doesn't stick out and pop out due to the coloring. It's like there's a rain cloud following the book around.

Everybody used to say it was one of the best X-titles out there, but nobody ever talks about it here. If you lost facination with the dark team of X-men because of the X-overs...well get over it that is what the X-men do. Necrosha is wrapping up great, Selene is begining her accenstion to Godhood, Wolfsbane has new impervious skin due to her fetus somehow... and the Hero of the Story this month... THE VANISHER!

X-23 1-shot

**I hope nobody objects to this being here, it was a one-shot and it seemed like a waste to make its own thread....(also I hope I'm not the only one who picked this up)**

This was a good book. The character X-23 is definately living up to her title as Wolvie's clone. She seems to be the newest character trying to find her humanity, or even understand humanity. Kinda like a mutant version of Spock....well with, tits, adamantium claws, and a homicidal glee streak.

It was nice to see some more of the character fleshed out. We witness her observe Wolverine and Jubilee's relationship, and are left wondering how she is processing it. Then we get to see her reconnect with the people that helped save her from the streets she was selling her chocha on.

I actually liked the art in the issue as well. Mostly the contrast between what was going on and the battle that was happening in her head. This isn't really a must read, but if you have interest in the character you won't be upset that you picked it up.

3.5 out of 5 Wolverine clones
