Really rough Weekend

Had to take my wife to the hospital Friday night into Saturday morning. She was there 12 hours. Her Mirena implant caused an infection. (This happens in less than 1% of women with the IUD.) She was vomiting and having diarrhea, and almost passed out while examining a cat.(She's a Vet.) The whole time she was there she kept getting texts from one of her bosses asking when she was coming back to work.

So we got her home, and after 3 hours of sleep she had to go back to work. She ended up working a 16 hour shift, when only scheduled for 12. At the end of her shift she was fired. Her bosses tried telling her that it was do to client complaints. With the timing of everything it was pretty obvious that wasn't the case.

They were trying to not even pay her severance.

My wife has worked her ass off for these people, and averages about 15 hours of overtime for them a week. It's just been real stressful.

Wow. Get her healthy, man. New jobs can be found, but being healthy is more important.

Those douchbags at her work don't deserve her. Working 16 hours after a hospital visit? She's a badass.

same sentiments as above, shes more manly than i am, to work a 16 hour shift after being in the hospital over night. Look on the bright side, you figured out whats wrong with her and she can now get better, jobs can be found - health is a hard thing to replace. but what her work did was straight out wrong..... if they dont give her, her severance i would be calling a lawyer.... but either way ill keep you all in my thoughts

With my experience (knowing and dating people who work in such establishments), Vet offices are fucking TERRIBLE in regards to inter-office politics, favoritism, and downright inhuman behaviors.

Holy shit. Man, that is awful. I hope the follow up appointment goes well and everything is ok.

Thanks for all the support and good thoughts. I am still feeling rough, but am going to get a month's severance I am on tons of antibiotics and hopefully, they will start working soon.
I have started emailing my resume and will be applying for a Florida vet license soon
