http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/05/06/exclusive-jj-abrams-super-8-teaser-trailer-description-revealed/
We’ve told you that the super secret movie trailer for JJ Abrams next film Super 8 was attached to Iron Man 2. I have just received a reliable report from someone who has seen the trailer. I am 100% sure that this report is legit. Here are some spoiler free details:

I can confirm that it is not a Cloverfield sequel or prequel.

It is written and directed by JJ Abrams.

Yes, produced by Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment (not Dreamworks).

And it takes place in the late 1979.

I know it’s hard, but reading the description won’t be anywhere as much fun as watching the trailer the way it was supposed to be enjoyed — on the big screen, with a big crowd. But for those of you who just have to know right now, I have included the long/detailed description

Again, this is your last chance to turn back.

You don’t have to read the description…

Are you sure?

Okay then…

Here is the teaser trailer description from our source:

The trailer lasts about one minute and a half.

Spoiler:

It definitely feels like a late 1970’s Spielberg film, think Close Encounters of a Third Kind. I’m excited to see what the actual movie is about.

If it is anything like a Spielberg film from that era, it will probably be set in the suburbs and focus on a middle class family who somehow gets stuck in the middle of this alien situation. I love Close Encounters, ET and the old Amblin films. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have been saying that they’re trying to make “Amblin” movies, but have not even come close. I hope that JJ Abrams is able to deliver something closer to those movies. I have faith, and from what I’ve heard — this trailer is dead on.

This sounds ultra cool! I love JJ Abrams viral marketing campaigns, all the stuff he did with Colverfield was amazing. I can't wait to actually see the trailer though. Smile

Thanks for making this thread because I was too busy to find more information for it at the time. I guess you were like, "If CTP won't post it, I will!"

I'm excited for this film also...the title has me weirdly intrigued.

Actually I was going to post this yesterday but was busy watching the game. I see you thought it was Cloverfield 2 though. lol

New Information:

- The trailer was shot independently of the film a month ago, and the special effects were done under the cover of Abrams new NBC series Undercovers
- Variety says the film will begin principal photography in Fall 2010.
- The film’s actual budget is in the range of $45 million-$50 million.
- It will be shot traditionally, and not through a handheld Super 8 Camera ala Cloverfield.
- It will be released in Summer 2011.
- HeatVision says that actual movie has something to do with “the possibility that a group of kids in 1979 are playing around making movies with their Super 8 cameras (as Abrams and Spielberg did as kids) and accidentally capture something … sinister, on film.” This certainly gels with Vulture’s original theory on the trailer.

Hrm. Admittedly, I'm lazy, so call me when they release at least a teaser.

It kind of sounds like a 1970's version of Cloverfield but with Aliens instead of a Monster. Not that that sounds bad. I will probably see it

Yeah, well I might be jumping the gun but J.J. Abrams sure can catch your attention with even the little information of his new projects.

I'll keep an open mind about it but I try not to buy into the hype because things rarely live up to the hype

That's my neighborhood BTW. That Air Force base they moved shit too... yep.. 3 min from my house. I grew up with this story.

Not saying it's gonna make for a good movie but there is actually a rumor about this stuff being at Wright Patt.

OH and there's also missiles in a retention pond not far from the base. When the water gets really low you can see the top of the towers. Very Happy

Yep... I grew up with FUN stories.... that get made into movies. Very Happy

When I was a kid there were rumors that there were missile silos in a field by our middle school, there were these huge grass covered mounds that were surrounded by really high barb wire fences and at the time we had one of the largest navel bases in the country literally about three blocks away. Since the base closure in 1993 the base is still there but has been divided up among the ports and other companies but mysteriously those large grass covered mounds are no longer there.

^Tell us what this story is supposedly about.

Well if they go with the story I always heard growing up was that when word got out about the aliens being at Area 51 they moved them in at Hanger 18 up here. (just like the Magadeath song Very Happy)

I've been on that base a couple of times, before they tightened down security, everyone knows the story of Hangar 18.

Just scroll down and read the "Project Blue Book" part
