Is a Blue Beetle live-action TV series on the way?

Today, DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns tweeted that Jaime Reyes, DC Universe's current bearer of the Blue Beetle mantle, would possibly be getting the live-action treatment. Johns hopes that footage from the show will hopefully debut at Comic-Con.

On Sunday June 13, Johns tweeted the following:


Fans of Batman: The Brave and The Bold know that Jaime had guest-starred on the program, and Johns seems to indicate that Blue Beetle's waxing presence on the show is a ploy to increase viewers' familiarity with the character. Does this mean we'll see a Cartoon Network B.B. show? Can we get a James Callis Ted Kord while we're at it?

I'm not super familiar with Ted Kord, but I do like him a lot from what I know of him. I'd be for a live action series starring Ted. Or, at least have him appear a show starring Jaime.

This looks like a CW kids show.

^It looks kinda like a Power Rangers ripoff to me.

I think it's a good foundation, but if it's made I hope they greatly improve it.

I don't have a good feeling about the chances of this show if it's made. I don't know if the general public would get behind it.

For some reason it reminds me a bit of a Cyberman. I like Blue Beetle, I might check this out..it's way too early to tell how this will go. However, if Booster Gold or any of the JLI show up, count me in!

Goeff Johns is evil. He should have not revealed these images and get fans excited for a project that's not sure to happen at all. Besides, the effects are only for the test and they look too cheap. Better to wait for real footage, if there will be any.

I wish the show all the best, as a comics fan but, i'll never watch it. Decent start to the effects, though!

ill watch a Blue Beetle live-action show on a few conditions...

1)it's not just a rehash of the Smallville formula. Smallville was/is a good show, can't say. never was interested in it, and never watched it, but ill know if it's familiar territory and just a rehash.
2)the series isn't filled with alot of like teen melodramatic DeGrassi bullshit. I hate shows like DeGrassi, the acting is just sooo000oo terrible.

Jaime Reyes and his friends/family are the reasons I like the third Blue Beetle's series. Hope it's like that. Seems it won't be starting from the Infinite Crisis thingy, but it flies in through his window while he sleeps? Or maybe that's when it climbs onto him after he takes it home. It'd be really neat if they did a brief mentioning of IC and carried into his series.

And, with all the lawyer/detective shows, Manhunter, Kate Spencer would get a chance at a mini-series at least. If they're going for fresh reinventions like Jaime's BB, why not?

Heck if it's Blue beetle I'll watch at least the first few episodes just to see how it is!

While I do like Ted Kord better I can totally understand them using Jaime since it's going to be more geared towards kids/teens.
