C2E2 2011 - March 18-20

Quite a few interesting panels going on. The POP Family Feud is a given as are a few others.

The Saturday Night Masquerade sounds like it's going top be a lot of fun.....but I feel as if it will be dominated by Anime groups.

Overall, a nice assortment of panels.

I'm actually going to the Goombas Burlesque show at the Gorilla Tango Theatre in a week.....ever since the Flaming Dames appeared, burlesque has been blowing up in Chicago.

I was wondering if anyone has found a WOW moment for this years C2E2. Is the "Con Chicago needs" honeymoon over?

There are a good number of interesting panels, and I appreciate the amount of comic focus on the show. And Marvel and DC is a huge plus. But then I look at some of the "Guests". Rick Bayless? A bunch of "ghost hunters" or the cast from a Harry Potter musical?

Then I look at the exclusives and nothing catches my eyes like last years Lantern figures. There is no special Kick Ass screening type event with next day autographs. Sure I didnt like the movie but the experience was good. There is no Cleveland Show type panel my wife can be excited about since she gets bored as I hit DC panels. Even last years countdown Ipod app hasnt been updated and it was a nice touch.

Has the lead up to this years C2E2 matched or excedded last years or are you like me and still waiting for the big hook?

I just go for the comics and comic guest. All that other stuff really doesn't affect me or how I view the con.

I'm sure Ska has this marked...

The Kickass movie and signing was announced less than two weeks before the show last year.

They have all the major publishers. Huge names and fan favorite guests. Plenty of panels and after hours events. Reed's staff is phenomenal which leads to happy guests. As far a comic convention goes, CCC can't hold a candle to C2E2.

Plus all of us will be there. This is party central, baby.

Bought my tickets to the rocktacular. That sounds friggin' rad.

Jon: They are working on the APP. They'll announce it on twitter when it's ready, just give it time. Kim is filling out all the kid's events and other events happening besides the panels and screenings you see now. I just an email of what the floor layout is going to look like and where the panel rooms are. It's pretty nice and bigger than last year.

CCC is gone and no more, their spirit is dead, if they ever had one. It's going to be a great convention, there's even a grand opening surprise that all fans will love when the doors open on Thursday, so yes, it's definately a convention to go to. It's their second year doing this and I think they are trying to concentrate on what makes a comic book convention. COMIC stuff with a sprinkle of anime and celebs. It'll be a great show, trust me. I know what's going down and even though it's not what you expect NOW, it will ease your worries once you come.

I'm not comparing it to CCC, I'm comparing it to 2010 when I could look on my Ipod and count down the days to getting my White Lantern Sinestro. I'm more of a toy guy then comic guy. To each there own. I didn't say I wasn't looking forward to it. I got my ticket 3 months ago.
