Yeah it does. Patton Oswald's Wash one-shot should be good, but was anyone really demanding one about Riley? I mean, I like the guy, but I'd rather finish out Season Eight. The Riley one-shot was okay. Not great, but not terrible. Whistler showing up was interesting. Otherwise, totally skippable.

Yeah I thought it was just kind of ho-hum. I don't think it was even Karl Moline's better work. I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a status quo set up by the end of season 8 that has season 9 resembling more of the tv show. Could be wrong but I just have this feeling about it.

I'm hoping that the scope of this comic is scaled back in season 9. Not asking to just re-hash old stories or status quo or anything but a bit of a "back to basics" approach is in order, in my opinion.

From their conversation it sounds like it's Buffy they're going to kill to me. Perhaps if it is killing Angel or Spike they're expecting Faith's going to have to take care of Buffy too as a result of those actions?
I'm finding this latest arc more enjoyable than some of the previous stuff and it's definitely fun to have Spike around.

#38 was okay. A bit dry, but that comes with being the third part of a five-part story. Anyone else get the feeling that not everyone's going to make it? (Looking at you, Giles.)

Yep I get that feeling too. Giles is definitely a candidate.
I don't know about anyone else but I'm finding the plot for this just ridiculously overcomplicated and I've said it all series long, Jeanty's art is just not up to a book where the characters should all be likenesses of real people and, additionally, has a huge cast (in other words everyone looking the same is NOT an option).
I'm really not sure I'll be buying into season 9 despite how much I like Buffy. I just feel like this whole season 8 (even though it's not quite over yet) has been pretty ordinary.

^Yeah, I wanted to love season 8, and I did like some of it a lot, but I just wasn't really feeling it. I dropped the book after the Twilight arc, but I haven't read anything since the Fray arc.

I thought Buffy went downhill with season 6 to be honest. I casually checked out the comics for both Buffy and Angel and really have not been impressed with it.
