This is an official notice! Ska will be covering this part of the interwebs in terms of all the crap she likes that doesn't have a section on PoP yet. There's official threads for Bleach and One Piece, go talk about them there. If you want to talk about pachinko machines here, do it. If you want to talk about the plethora of vending machines in Japan here, do it. I will start by talking about the best damn anime I've seen in a long time--Soul Eater.
Soul Eater is a comedy...no wait, it's a supernatural type...no wait, it's action...
Let's just say, it has a lot of awesome shit happening all the time in it. Soul Eater is about a school, the Death Weapon Meister Academy, located in Nevada. All the students are paired up into teams of (usually) 2--a weapon meister and a weapon. Yes, humans can turn into weapons. Throughout the series, the teams are trying to collect 99 evil souls, and the soul of one witch so that their weapon can turn into a death scythe. If they screw up their soul collection, they have to start all over. Death scythes are powerful weapons that are used by shinigami, like the headmaster of the academy. The series follows 3 of the student teams: Maka & Soul, Black*Star & Tsubaki, and Death the Kid paired with Liz & Patty.
Comedic relief usually comes in the forms of Maka's father.Maka pretty much hates her father's guts after divorcing her mom. He's portrayed as a horn dog, but he tries really hard to win back his daughter's love.
The first three episodes are background info on each pairing of people. Later on in the series, the students have to go through exams, remedial lessons, defeat a zombie teacher, and even try to discover Excalibur. Eventually the group has to go head to head with a super evil witch trying to free the first "big bad evil" that's trapped under the school. I'll stop for now, I don't want to give away too much...
Here's a trailer for the show. It's being released on DVD in the states February 2010.

You can watch episodes of it for free on Funimation's website, but please please PLEASE, for the love of god, watch it with the subtitles! The voice casting for the Japanese language captures the characters' personalities so much better, especially Black*Star's.
And remember, 42-42-564, whenever you want to knock on Death's door.
