C2E2 2011 - March 18-20

Hi guys. I can share two things about the 2011 show

Free WiFi on the show floor
New location. Same place. Bigger Show floor with more panel room that will be easy to get too

I am waiting to see if I get in artist alley for 2011.

Did anyone on here set up in artist alley at the last one? Was it worth it? Any other thoughts on artist alley?

Sean: As a fan, I thought the alley was wide in space and more free to walk around then wizard. A definate "worth it" if you ask me, but sadly, I'm not an arist. :*( LOL. Still, you better be there!!!

C2E2 2011 will be in the WEST Building this time, instead of the East. Here's some maps.

Yes. I sent in when the application first went up.

Hey PoPlers, is there a PoP booking group yet? Are we going to try to get rooms next to each other this time?

That would be awesome...but the booking group had no effect on that. We basically just have to tell them when we check in "Hey, can we all be together?".

Ok, so, if you book a room post here I guess, that way when we get closer to the event we know what name the rooms are under.

Maybe for the 2012 C2E2, we could reserve a block of rooms under the POP Banner. Maybe it could be the start of the POP Traveling Commune.

I don't think I'd book in the Hyatt either, honestly. That place is INSANELY expensive. I think I'd just pay to park (which would still be awful) and just drive there from my place or just take the CTA or something. But then, if I'm cosplaying...Power Girl and Lady Blackhawk on the train would be hilariously terrible.

If Amanda and I are able to go, is it ok if we crash in someone's room? We wont know if we can go until closer to the date but at this point it seems unlikely.

The Hyatt only becomes worth the cost when you hit the 5 people or more mark.

I like being in the hotel that the actual event takes place at. Yes, it can be noisy, crowded, and expensive...but isn't that part of the atmosphere? I look at the conventions I attend as mini-vacations and want to take in and do as much as possible. While I enjoyed C2E2 last year, I can't help but think it would have been a whole lot more memorable if I would have stayed at the hotel and taken part in the after-con festivities.

That was done last year. It doesn't guarantee that the rooms will be next to each other.

So, we're throwing around ideas about how PoP! can run shit at C2E2 this year. Any suggestions?

Just booked my room for C2E2 and bought my weekend pass. Looks like this year I'm rooming with:

Madskillz
Eirejack
ravezombie

...for sure. Might have 2 or 3 more, but they're pending.

I guess that depends on how cost prohibitive you wanna be. A panel (or two) would be awesome, especially if you have more than one cosplayer helping pass around fliers or stickers. A booth might be cool, or some place where it would be possible to sell PoP merch? Something that nerds will definitely wanna get their grubby hands on. Also, maybe if it'd be possible to film quick video bits to put up right away on youtube? Written coverage during the show, instead of updating after the fact? I know it's not super easy, but you've got tons of talent within the community itself. Call upon it! Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha! But seriously, there are people who'd be willing to help, I'm sure, whether it's with getting video, conducting an interview or two, or just handing out stickers and carrying that damn PoP sign.

I really like the idea of a youtube video that promotes PoP! and C2E2. The folks at read will eat that shit up.

After seeing the rates for the rooms, I am just gonna do what I did last year and just go home every night. I am going to be tossing the Denimmobile for airport pick ups again this year.
