“The Cape” is a one-hour drama series starring David Lyons (“ER”) as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin, “Life on Mars”) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott, “Flash Forward”). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Faraday becomes “The Cape” his son’s favorite comic book superhero — and takes the law into his own hands. Rounding out the cast are James Frain (“The Tudors”) as billionaire Peter Fleming – The Cape’s nemesis – who moonlights as the twisted killer: Chess; Keith David (“Death at a Funeral”) as Max Malini, the ringleader of a circus gang of bank robbers who mentors Vince Faraday and trains him to be The Cape; Summer Glau (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) as Orwell, an investigative blogger who wages war on crime and corruption in Palm City; and Dorian Missick (“Six Degrees”) as Marty Voyt, a former police detective and friend to Faraday.

This sounds really cool, glad NBC picked it up.

I agree. Sounds very cool. I'll give it 12 episodes before it's canceled.

That promo image looks fan-made. Is it legit? If so, it doesn't inspire much confidence.

Yes, because of all the crap we got so far, maybe one day we'll get something good.

The Cape, though? I doubt this will be it. I have more confidence in Nor Ordinary Family with Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz.

The Cape sounds interesting. It could work but I don't see it lasting very long.

I've always thought that The Punisher would work really well as a TV show.

This sounds pretty cool so therefore it won't last long at all.

I think Moon Knight could work as a series.

Not unless it was on HBO or Showtime.

too.

Agreed.
If HBO did a Punisher series that would be great cos it would have the freedom to feature Sons of Anarchy levels of violence.

^ Okay, that actually pretty fantastic.

Although, I'd have loved to see it as a mini or something. They're probably gonna wanna drag out the frameup, and how many times can we watch a guy use his cape in various ways? But...that's the thing, I'm still thinking it'll be really entertaining.

DickGrayson007 wrote:

Yea, ever since he was mentioned in the Blade series, I've been waiting for at least a little mini or something. 'Specially with the character being brought back into the limelight these past couple years.

Definitely. But it could work.

deadbolt85 wrote:That'd be pretty cool. A Luke Cage: Hero for Hire series would be cool

Same with HBO or Showtime for this one, but I'd want it to have Jessica Jones and Iron Fist, that way we get more stories and variety of characters. And heck, throw in Arachne, Black Cat and a few others. Pack in a bunch of references and junk. That could be awesome. I would really like it if they were to make a series that coincided with Marvel Studios stuff. For the little guys, and Heroes for Hire is a nice nexus of all those street level heroes and even mutants and the like. At least, again, through references.

Still not thrilled and doubt it'll survive an idustry that is fed up with the monstrosity Heroes have become over the last few years or Watchmen, Kick-Ass and the whole superhero cinematic genre. It needs to have a really strong and unique voice to make it, and from everything I heard and seen so far, I don't think The Cape will have what it takes.

Saying that, I'll watch the show and give it as much a chance as possible. At least I think his superpowers look cool.

BTW, don't remember if I've said it already, but the show's premise reminds me of a B-Movie I cought one night on TV many years ago called Prey of the Jaguar. The general plot is very similar, but thanks to advances in technology and the production budget, The Cape looks way better (the movie was released in 1996).

It looks very interesting but I don't see this catching on. Having said that, I will watch.
