The SNL Thread

I'm just suprised that SNL has so many damnw riters, and not one of them can write anything remotely funny in some episodes. Now I'm someone who cuts SNL alot of slack, and overall enjoys the current cast but man oh man this was a horrible open to a new season.

I'm sure they had better ideas but just couldn't make them work with the Walking Mannequin.

Puh-leeze.

Watched last night...some LOL moments, specifically the two Digital Shorts which I'm sure were meant to "fuck with" Megan Fox.

She couldn't play anything but hot, slutty chick.

I miss Casey Wilson.

Why? because she was chubby? Certainly couldn't be all the laughs she supplied. Because she uh, didn't.

Casey was funny and cute, but she didn't do much last season besides being a background character. The show usually gives you a couple of years to make an impact and then lets you go if you don't. That's show biz.

Wiig is such a pro. She didn't even miss a beat when Jenny Slate effed up.

I noticed that too. Good for her. Probably helped the situation too.

Good episode last night, even though the last twenty minutes turned into the Lady Gaga Show. Am I the only one who thought she kinda looked like Bat Manuel during her first song?

It's good to see that she actually has some talent behind those re-dick costumes.

Weekend Update was the funniest segment, as far as I can remember. I also liked the tail end of Reynold's monologue.

Something mentioned in EW this week...Jennifer's Body bombed so bad, that Megan Fox didn't even ATTEMPT to promote it on SNL.

I guess her 15 minutes are just about up. Until the next TF movie, that is.

Despite her involvement, I'm looking forward to that movie. I seriously doubt it'll be a hit, though.

I nodded off at the 45 minute mark and then woke up during the last 10 minutes or so. Lost a lot of the episode. Pisses me off because I also missed Thursday's half-hour thing.

The Thursday episode was all Weekend Update with no cold open, which was weird.

However, it was SOLID.

Drew Barrymore is now the woman to have hosted SNL the most. Thought the episode was pretty cool. Scrooge McDuck was great! And Justin Long's cameo and impression of Mcconaughey was cool.

The episode was okay, if not a bit dull. Nothing great, but nothing too horrible. I liked Abby Elliott's Anna Ferris impression and Samburg's Scrooge McDuck. Regina Spector sounded great, but she's not exactly a dynamic live performer.

Note to the SNL writers: no more sketches whose only source of humor is repeating a word over and over. That "weiner" sketch was as lame as the "freakin" sketch from the Megan Fox show.

With the exception of the Scrooge McDuck appearance, I thought the whole episode was very poorly done.

I actually enjoyed most of it. I don't enjoy the Vinnie Verducci skits, but other than that, I found myself laughing pretty often this episode. 'Cooking Al Fresco' was one of my favorites, but I loved the opening bit with everyone mocking Drew's acting/speaking style.
