I just got a copy from my local library and so far its really good. I think the guy who wrote did a great job course he is a huge Oz fan. I can't wait to read the second book.

I agree. It's a very, VERY faithful adaptation of Baum's novel. I picked it up in HC when they collected all the issues, and will do the same for Marvelous Land of Oz when it's finished. I just hope they do all fourteen of Baum's books, or at least up until Patchwork Girl of Oz, although my personal favorite has always been The Magic of Oz.

I've never read the Oz books, but I really enjoyed the comic. There was something about this weeks issue of the Marvelous Land of Oz that I really didn't care for, but I'm hoping that it gets better by next issue.

I get them! I even have the first issue of the new series, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Soon, though!

Wasn't Wizard of Oz the first Marvel/DC team-up?

They dropped the ball on that one! It should have been Robotman, Kitty Pryde, Beast and Ragman! Maybe throw in Lockjaw as Toto.

That would be where the "& DC present" would come in.

BTW, Ragman wasn't created until a year later and Kitty a few more years.

Just read this and love it. Much better than the movie from the 1930s. Judy Garland was definitely too old to play Dorothy. Love how in this adaptation all of the main characters have origins. The TinWoodsman's origin is especially tragic. And the Kalidahs and the Hammerheads were interesting too.
