Vampires

What are some of your favorite vampire films/stories and characters?

I used to be into the vampire thing pretty big a while ago. I always loved Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

And I have a VHS copy of Near Dark that I haven't watched yet...I've heard that's one of the better modern-day vampire movies.

I think that's more and more over time ingraining itself as my favorite vampire movie.

Innocent Blood (luv this alot too)

Vampires Kiss
Shadow of a Vampire
John Carpenter's Vampires
The Lost Boys
Any Cushing/Lee Hammer vampire movie, especially Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires (martial arts!), and Scars of Dracula.

as far as other characters go:
and I LOVE Radu from Full Moon's Subspecies series, even though the movies pretty much sucked.
And I thought Grace Jones vampiress in the movie Vamp was wicked cool, but I think I remember the movie was not all that great. Need to rewatch. Also, Jim Carrey in 'Once Bitten' was funny, but it's not one of my 'favorites'.

I haven't read alot of vampire books. I didn't like Anne Rice's novels, I'm not sure why , but I did like Stephen King's the book 'Salem's Lot', and I loved Bram Stoker's Dracula the book.

Now not all of these are great movies but I was just putting down the ones I've seen.

As far as books go the only one that pops to mind is "Lost Souls"

Haven't been in the mood to see Near Dark, but I might check it out this weekend.
30 Days of Night and Shadow of the Vampire are pretty durn good, too.

TRUE BLOOD on HBO is an excellent vampire series that started last year. It stars the very lovely "Rogue", Anna Paquin.



I encourage one and all to check it out.

I absoloutly love this show...my buddy has read all the books and keeps trying to tell me what happens. I can't wait for the second season.

I'm not a fan of vampires per se, but there are a few things that I like that feature vampires:
The Monster Squad
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (series/comic, not movie)
True Blood
I Was a Teenage Vampire
I forget the name, but the episode of DuckTales with all of the monsters, including a Dracula-like character that had a penchant for apples.

I LOVE TRUE BLOOD. I've read all but the eighth book, and am looking deeply forward to the series' return this summer. BEST VAMPIRE SHOW EVER.

I think to be able to get into Duckula, you had to be familiar with the character through Danger Mouse. People who didn't watch Danger Mouse were largely unfamiliar with the idea of a duck who is a vegetarian vampire.

Personally, I like Duckula, but only on Danger Mouse. His premise got a bit shaky when it had to support itself.

I watched Danger Mouse every morning before school.
