I would say no. Because of the internet I think that I'm actually more into comics now than I was when I was younger. Also about a third of my pull list is there because of things that I had read on the internet. And plus without places like Pop I wouldn't have anybody to talk comics with really.

I would say that the internet has made me more excited for certain upcoming stories and events but at the same time it's also spoiled some cool events so that by the time I read the issue it's not as a big deal than if I knew nothing about it at all.

writing in general was more exciting... Think about it.. People actually had to come up with there own material or use the very little resources they had around them to be creative. Now everything is given to you by the internet.. its practically just source feed after feed after feed....everything popular comes from context now rather then resources... Of course comics had everything better because people had to actually be original with there idea's rather then the stuff that keeps repeating or going for just the dollar... Very few comics hold any value today...least that's how i see it..

I was just kidding. But, funnily enough, I haven't read the comics where he came back but read about it in solicits. Heh.

Oh, also another good point brought up was that the indie comic is almost impossibly obscure nowadays because of the internet. Which, to me and most, is a good thing.

I would think that indi's would be getting more popular because of the internet. I for one, started last week my new goal of reviewing a new indie comic every week.. look for this weeks on Virus Comix Presents: Blokes Tomb of Horror. I think that the exposure of indies to others is one thing that can be a positive about the industry with the internet.

People are always posting stuff from other sources on the boards, so I would assume that in the spirit of compitition that you would.
Yes, but we won't spoil it in the headline or link on the front page.

For that sir I would call you all Great Americans... but some of you I will just give the title of honorary Great Americans.

Something that I found interesting in my European Democracies class, and studying other governements and cultures. Nobody says, well that is just Un-French, or Un-german thing to do. But we here in the states often classify stuff as Un-American if it goes against collective values. But without the internet I wouldn't have my favorite Israeli, Tomer Very Happy

Here the media tends to call "anti-semite" anything that seems to contradict what Israelies (at least "by default") believe is right. A European country criticized us for some policy? "They hate Israel and the Jewish people!"

For me I like it more with the internet. I feel more...connected. I was the only one of my friends who read comics growing up so I had no one to talk to about them or discuss what had happened in them. now I can easily find like minded peeps that I can chat with. I still avoid spoilers as much as possible so I can be suprised, but it is nice to talk about the suprise after it happens too.

Which is so odd with the influx of refugees from Africa that are coming up there and influxing the population. i was reading about that for a paper I recently wrote. There was an article about when the Israeli's celebrated the exodus from egypt that these non-jew/christian refugees were part of the celebration because Israel is basically a country founded around refugees to begin with, much like Australia first exist for felons, but the roles are changing and the EU is changing a lot of things as well.

The Jewish North African community is one of the biggest one here (the former-Moroccan community in Israel is only second to the former-USSR/Russian one), but I don't about the amount non-Jew refugees.

Getting closer to other comic book fans is one of my favorite things to happen thanks to the Internet, no doubt. I would have not been part of PoP! otherwise.

Are you completely sure about that? I can assure you over here it is very common for something or someone to be labelled un-Australian (although it's so damn subjective to say what being Australian exactly is). And if it happens here too I bet it happens in a lot of countries. For example over the years I've certainly known the poms (that's the English for those of you who aren't in the know about the age old rivalry between us and the English) to describe something as not very British.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but I thought it was an interesting side discussion.

^ You're right. Here: UnAmerican, Socialist, Communist (surprisingly still holds sway), UnChristian pops up from time to time, Liberal, Conservative and a few others are actually used as pejorative terms referring to citizens in The States. It's amazing. It's like people don't know what socialism or communism really is. They aren't these horrible things, they're just not proven effective for a nation. But people say them like they're calling someone a rapist or a murderer.

Actually I don't think socialism has been totally ineffective. I'm pretty sure (and I could stand to be corrected) that Sweden was socialist for a pretty long time. Very high taxes but some of the world's best health care, schools, etc. The problem is that these political ideals are just that - ideals. Once you throw humans into the mix they are generally bastardised at some stage. We humans are pretty good at messing up what in theory are good ideas once we get hold of them.

Actually the socialist aspect of Europe has carried through the decades. Even though most of the nations are democracies, most of them are also wellfare states. The socialsist aspects of redistribution of wealth and providing for the populous are still important.
