Joss Whedon Avengers Movie

Ok. I'm just about done listening to the most recent episode. I was blown away when nobody could understand why Marvel is considering Joss Whedon for the Avengers movie.

Whedon is an amazing writer and director. He is at his best when working with an ensemble cast. Any of his shows are an example of how to balance humor, drama, action, and romance. This is exactly what is needed with an Avengers movie.

I'll admit that I'm highly biased, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. It's a long shot at best, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

He would be a very interesting choice. I haven't seen any of his directorial work yet but I hear great things. And if it's half as good as his comic work (Astonishing X-Men) then I'd be down for this.

Not sure who I'd actually want to be the director of The Avengers. Whedon doesn't bother me as a choice.

I'd be more than happy with Whedon directing Avengers.

He's awesome. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse are some of my favorite shows ever. Astonishing X-Men is hands down my favorite X-Men run to date. And Serenity is my favorite Sci-Fi movie of all time.

I think Whedon could make a great Avengers movie.

I don't think Joss has it in him to do a good Avengers movie.

I don't mean to be a dick, but could you explain your reasoning behind that statement? When it comes to directing a ensemble superhero adventure, I couldn't think of a better choice.

Ha! Seriously, Nathon Fillion sucks. I know everyone tells me how charming and great he is, but I've never seen him be charming and great.

Is Favreau no longer interested in directing?

I've no idea. Last I heard before the Whedon rumor is that Louis Leterrier (Incredible Hulk) was still interested in doing this. Don't know if Marvel is considering him, though.

The internet is buzzing with news that Marvel are entering "final negotiations" with Whedon for the Avengers movie. Personally, I think he'd be an awesome choice.
