So this is mostly my fault, but still, why should I be punished?

I have had Angel season 5 since it came out on dvd. I just never got around to watching it unti now. So I finish the thrid disc on it last night and go to pop in disc 4 and there is a disc 5 in it's place. So I go to the disc 5 spot and there is a second disc 5 there. Yes, I should of checked this when I bought it. Lesson learned on my end.

So I call up Fox DVD customer service and they told me that because it is over year old and I don't have a reciept that they cannot do anything for me, to try going to the store and see if they will exchange it. So I go to one Best Buy, one Target and one Wal-Mart. They all tell me the same thing, they will not exchange it because the version I have is discontinued (I have the big box version as opposed to the slim cases version that are now sold.) Since they are discontinued they cannot return them to the manufacter to get their credit for it.

So I get home and call the Fox customer service department again and tell them what I was told. I was told by the rep. that he cannot do anything about it. I ask to speak to his supervisor, he tells me he is the supervisor. I ask to speak to his manager, he puts me through to her voicemail. I have now called back twice since leaving a message and she is either away or on another call.

I am not asking for much, yes I should of checked this when I got it, but now I have to be forced to buy the whole set over again? That aint gonna happen. Anyway, just feel like venting.

Well that's not happening without proof you paid for it. Also I don't know how it works in America but in Canada you can't buy something at Best Buy and try and exchange it at Wal- Mart. That's probbaly why that didn't work out.

Check Ebay to see if you can get it cheap, or find one with a messed up case but the discs are ok. People tend to not buy them if they are tore up, but you just need the disc so it would work out for you.

Checking on Ebay there are a lot of disk 5 for that season. So I think it is a mistkae on Fox's part which could be why it is discontinued


But probably your best bet.

Thank boberthavok, I have bokmarked that. I am still trying to get the cust.manager to give me a call back and I see that has 6 days left on it, I don't want to buy it, but may have no choice.

As far as it being discontinued, just the packaging, I have the big boxes, when they were first released. The now sell them packaged in the slim cases. Just the big box is discontinued. Yeah, stupid, same thing on the inside.

Did you try asking the customer service people at the different stores if they could just switch out your extra disc 5 for a disc 4 from the slim cases and then they could send the slim cased set back to the manufacturer?

When I exchange a DVD set I'm adamant about just exchanging the disc that's defective. I don't want to have to rewatch the entire set to make sure it's okay. Some places are good about it, other places I have to argue, but I ALWAYS get it done.

The same thing happend to me with a 'Care Bears' 5-disc series for my kids. I didn't do anything about it, cuz honestly I don't care enough too and it was a gift from their aunt....but I feel your pain.

I would try ebay for the single disc. It could be less of a hassle that way. Have you tried going to hulu.com and see if they have that season on there?

All the seasons of Angel are on Netflix Instant Viewing. If all your attempts at getting that fifth disc fail, you can at least watch those episodes that way.

I have decieded to go with ebay for the missing disc because the Buffy/Angel stuff is someting I want for my collection. I have been forced to write a letter to corporate after the making a total of 7 calls to the cust. service manager over there with no call back. I kept on being told she was "on another call" or "away from her desk"

It may not solve anything, but from my expierence in customer service, corporate hates getting complaints and usually corrective action is placed on the parties involved.

Yes they do. The best way to try and get your way at a store is to complain and eventually say you want to speak with the highest manger on duty at the time. Normally they will do what they can to make you happy and make them look good if there are people behind you.
