Great list Pumkinheadfan...although I still don't consider AWIL a horror comedy don't know I don't even think John Landis thinks its a horror comedy. Laughing

I wouldn't say that Evil Dead 1 is a horror comedy. 2 and AoD for sure though.

I actually consider that one a horror comedy.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Scream. I think it's a more successful comedy than it is a horror movie.

That's the fine line when it comes to movies like AWIL and Evil Dead where they are well crafted films with a decent amount of Dark humor that people don't always pick up on. For example Tobe Hooper stuck some dark humor in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to "lighten" the film up a bit, but most of the time people were get the crap scared out of them and didn't notice the humor. That's why we have Part 2. Do I consider a film like TCM a horror comedy? The answer is no, but I do recognize it for being a film that has some dark humor present. I guess it all really comes down to the viewer's take on a film. Very Happy

Stephen King actually endorsed The Evil Dead as the "Most ferociously original horror film of the year."
