Its official the Darkchylde movie is going to be made. They have John Carpenter directing. I was a very big fan of the comics and pretty excited to see what they come up with for the film adaptation. Here is a link to more info:

Don't know much about the character, but looks fun. Especially with Carpenter attached. I have not lost hope in the guy. Although, like Spaced said, his movies have been weak as of "late," he's still John Carpenter. He'll bounce back, and this could be it.

yeah I saw that last week, Randy Queen posted it on his facebook! I love the nightmare arm make up. I really enjoy the old horror make up, it might be a bit hooky but I prefer it to the CG most of the time.

1000 x yes!

CGI is great, but classic makeup and prosthetic techniques are greater. And then there are those movies that successfully combine the two (like Hellboy)

I still think puppetry and prosthetics still have a place in movies. Lord of the Rings and Hellboy rocked them.

I agree. My husband tried to have an argument on which was better CGI or old school special effects...he eventually gave up the argument Laughing

Yoda was better as a muppet than as pixels.

Watched the mini doc. on the casting molds for David in American Werewolf and that stuff still holds up. It's impressive nowadays. CG still has a ways.

Was just thinking of how I still don't own Labyrinth and Dark Crystal. And how Henson really knew how to scare the Hell out of kids. Let me introduce you to a Gelfling...NOW HERE'S A SKEKSIS! Children: "AHHHHH!"

It's usually always better than CG gore.

The Skeksis were scary, but the Land Striders and the Garthim gave me nightmares.
