Home
The Kagemusha Mountains are a harsh environment; its highest peaks above the clouds, temperatures can freeze the blood of a man four times over. So high in the sky, when the sun is in view, the light it produces can burn a hole deep into the eyes' recesses beyond repair. Air is so thin, it is said if the blood could run, it would dribble from every orifice of the body. The only beings said able to survive at these peaks are sky dragons, able to travel into space itself. However, entire centuries can pass without their presence. To say it is a solemn world is an understatement; it is a place made for solitude and barren silence. Such an environment provides an adequate atmosphere for Kukai the Sennin, the Hermit of the Major Arcana. Alone in a simple shack atop the highest peak, it hides a cave into the mountain that houses one of the greatest libraries in existence. Reading and writing are a career for Kukai, but his hobbies include the field of botany magically upheld in the harsh climate of his residence. Though gifted in the arrangement of Banzai trees, the elder immortal's passion lay in his Chrysanthemums. It is said in the deepest portal of the mountain, passages to Hell itself exist. Through these gates is how Kukai comes out of isolation to travel and to attend to his duties in the Major Arcana. The Hermit sits in the quarters of his shack bathed in the lights of the candles surrounding him as he remains in deep meditation. The tranquil scene is interrupted as gelatinous tendrils pierce his settlement and bite at his body. The shack is torn apart by the tendrils as Kukai lands on the ground before where his home was before its demise.
“Who dares enter the Kagemusha Mountains unannounced?!”
The old man's sole response is the glugging noise of the yellow mass of translucent sludge before him as its tendrils recede into its form and it rockets at both ends to encircle its target. Kukai jumps to avoid being smothered only for dozens of tendrils to race after him and ensnare his legs.
“Damnable abomination!”
Pulling a paper talisman from his robe, he hurls it like a dagger and it merges with the surface of the blob as he makes hand gestures before exclaiming 'release!' where the entire mass detonates and covers the area in chunks of gelatin. Holding his hand towards the ruins of his home, a staff with a burning lantern attached to it comes to join his grip. Suddenly, the several chunks of the monstrosity bolt towards each other to reform as it contorts into some oozing creature with a massive mouth and eyes atop the upper lip. Before the elder can react, a deafening boom threatens to obliterate him had he not stepped to the side in time.
Purgo of malum home base
A large whirling mass of energy opens up and Dave and his new recruits from the pop comic universe calmly stepped out of it.
“we’re here is everyone in one piece?” asked Dave
“you must be kidding….I could have stepped out with tcs boobs….hold on that doesn’t seem so….” Frozen never got to finish his sentence as Tc struck him over the head with Gary
“Hey I’m not a weapon cut that out!” shouted Gary
“sorry Gary,” sighed Tc giving him a small kiss
“wow I’ve got a right pair here,” muttered Dave who then said to his fellow monks “okay progress what’s the status on our surgeon….”
“he’s dead,” muttered Corrosive cougar
“what?” shouted Dave running over to her console
“yeah reaper did it….I wouldn’t celebrate though dark matter is slowly raining down on our earth,”
“so the worst is happening…..Lancet lynx how is our spy in the arcane faring?”
“Well as you know we took down the wheel, due to their laws in the arcane they must have a member for each of the cards. So they quickly signed up Copymatts what they of course don’t know is that Copymatts works for us!”
“good and any news on their leader?”
“you mean the world, he has never shown up for one of their meetings, he prefers to run things in the background and when he does speak via webcam he is in the shadows and his voice is all scrambled so as to not give away his identity,”
“So can anyone give us an explanation of what the fuck is going on?”
“yes Frozen, we are at war with a shadowy organisation known as the arcane. There are 22 of them and they each take their name from the tarot cards. But that’s not our only problem, first Orpheus our resident psychopath disappears and now there black rains transmutating the people of the earth.”
“okay and what do we do about it?” asked Frozen
“We fight!” muttered Dave
Suddenly there was a blast of light heading towards frozen. Tc quickly pushed him out of the way and the light blasted right into Gary sending both the bag and Tc to opposite sides of the room.
“Blast and that was a good strike too!” muttered a man who casually stepped out of the shadows
“I know you! You are the one who took the codename magician aren’t you!” muttered Dave
“Oh indeed I am you may call me marvello the magnificent and I would like to show you a magic trick!”
A big bulky roided up man pushed the magician out of the way and muttered in a thick Austrian accent “out of the way girly man I want to crush them all!”
“ah you would be strength right?” grinned Dave
Several more Arcana members began to pour out of the shadows Dave casually named them all “the devil, the lovers, mr sun, mr moon”
Meanwhile over in the corner Tc was in pain she could feel that was concussed from the blast and crawled over to Gary. But what she found where he fell to wasn’t a bag at all. No lying in a crumpled heap was a young boy with green hair. He was completely nude
“Gary?” asked Tc in surprise
“holy shit….I’m a real boy!” laughed Gary
Tc stared at his naked body and then right down to the bottom and muttered “yes I can see that,”
Meanwhile
The warning lights were flashing all through the base as Taser tigress and Phazar puma quickly ran into the main room. They both stopped in horror at the Arcana but Phazer puma in particular
“No you!”
“oh hi its little orphan puma!” laughed the devil waving towards Phazer puma
Puma sneered darkly at Xion but then shouted “Dave how the hell did they get through our defences!”
“Isn’t it obvious?” grinned Dave typing something into max the bases computer system causing him to shut down with a scream. Finally the Empress walked out of the shadows and kissed Dave calmly on the lips.
“My name is David page and I am the world! You fools have served your purpose….now we shall eliminate you all!”
