I know it's the same thing over and over again, but dammit, "What Up With That?" still makes me smile. As long as they don't do it every other episode, I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

VERY weak episode last night. Most of the skits were just retreads of older recurring sketches, and Scarlett Johanssen really overused that Brooklyn accent she feels like she has to do every time she plays someone other than herself on the show. If it weren't for Arcade Fire's two great performances, the show would have been a total dud.

The episode was average, but I have to disagree about Arcade Fire. Good god, they were terrible. They look annoying, and they suck at music. I'm really baffled as to how they're moderately famous. My opinion of course. But seriously, I get it, you were made fun of in high school. Cut your hair, take off your messed up by bleach shirt that you payed six hundred dollars for and cut that three violinist shit out. One violin is too many for a rock band. It just sounded like whiny noise.

lol. Okay, I'm calm now. It's been a while since a Thundermatts outburst over something not worth it.

Yeah, I muted Arcade Fire. And white-noised the Digital Short. The episode was kind of meh. Even Weekend Update. The only shiner to me was the "broken leg" skit. That angle of him on the ground yelling in the humiliated tone had me rolling.

^ Yes, that was funny the first time it happened, but then they did it two more times, and it just fizzled.

And I will concede that Arcade Fire look ridiculous, but their albums sure sound great.

I totally knew the redundancy was coming, but it was just interesting to see him succumb to their good-willed nature used against him.

Also, one man's noise is another man's melody. Wink

I thought the bit with the child actors was pretty funny; particularly the Brokeback Mountain bit. But, I guess that would really only be funny to people who've done live theater. tongue

Dear Scarlet Johansson,

Your only redeeming quality was your awesome set of tits. What happened?

Paltrow / Green was one of those rare episodes that actually got better as it went along. Many of the first few sketches were really flat. Even the Digital Short could have been a lot better. After Update, and once they got over the fact that Cee-Lo couldn't say "fuck" on the air, things started to gel a lot more. I liked the Globe previews and Spanish Sportscenter sketch, and it was fun watching Armisen do Patterson again at the end.

Also, those chicks in Cee-Lo's band were SO not really playing their instruments. They were nice to look at though.

Anybody catch Dana Carvey's episode?

Hearing Phil Hartman's voice in the intro was wonderful. Wayne's World was never so good. When talking about Natalie Portman, Garth says "I'd like to make a Mila out of her Kunis." Immature, but I was out of breath laughing.

Solid episode. Best I've seen in a long time.

I dug the Carvey episode, especially the cameos from Mike Myers and Jon Lovitz. Not every sketch worked, but Carvey's energy sold me on a lot of them. I was kinda hoping for more cameos from some of the other surviving 86-93 players like Kevin Nealon or Jan Hooks to make it a mini-reunion of sorts.

I also dug the Dana Carvey episode. The Wayne's World skit was really good and so was the Church Lady. I agree that not everything worked but it was a pretty good episode overall.

Yeah I wish they would stop putting Beiber in sketches and having him be the object of lust by older characters. That shit's creepy.
