(Powers that be - if this is not the way to go about setting up these threads just let me know - I wasn't entirely clear how things ended up in the thread regarding these threads - I'm happy to just go with the flow)

***SPOILERS***

Yet another great issue with some very cool moments: Atrocitus not dying after having his heart removed (I thought he was a goner); Sinestro, Hal, Carol and the Indigo Lantern all working together in a sure sign of things to come; and the absolute feeling of foreboding I'm feeling every time I see a scene with John in it (I've got a feeling he may be a casualty out of Blackest Night).

Okay and I have to say those four "Inversions" at the start as drawn by Doug Mahnke were just about the most disgusting things I've seen in a comic in a while. affraid

I liked this issue. I was really into the inner dialogue of Atrocitus. The amount of rage he has and it's not just random. He truly feels wronged and justified in his actions. I love it. I also love how the ring powers him up like his heart used to and that's why he no longer needs it to survive. Very cool. Watching the different lanterns fight together was cool and boy is Larfleeze in some big trouble. Can't wait to see what happens next. And yes. Every single panel I see John Stewart in, I feel like he might be a goner. I really hope not but it's not looking so good for him.

I've never cared for John Stewart, so if they wanna off an Earth GL, that's fine by me. And no... I'm not racist. Laughing

I loved this issue. As much as I'm liking Blackest Night (the book), Green Lantern is still the best BN book, IMO.

Atrocitus surviving was awesome. I couldn't believe my eyes when he appeared to die. I'm very happy he survived.

The art here is awesome. I love Mahnke's art more and more each time I see it.

My favorite moment of the issue was when Hal hit Abin with "the world's largest violin".

That part with the violin cracked me last night.
I'm still trying to make sense of everything I read yesterday as I caught up on BN #4, GL #47, and the last GL Corps. All around 2-3am. Yeah... I'm gonna have to re-read those. Laughing

This event is making me like Sinestro in ways I thought I never would. He's becoming one of my favorite characters. Not villain or hero. Just an awesome character.

So true! I'd even like to see him join the GLC again, but I doubt he'd ever go back to the little blue regime.

I don't see Sinestro going back to the GLC although I have a feeling we're going to see a shift in the Guardians by the end of this event. They can't go around doing the same thing that pretty much started this event in the first place. Somehow, the Guardians are going to have to change. As for Sinestro, he leads his own Corps. His Corps is devoted to him and I don't see Sinestro abandoning them anytime soon. He's great as his own person.

I totally agree. I love complex characters and he fits the bill. He's totally misguided but he means well (in his own mind) however there's been some pretty horrific people through real history who've been like that also. The thing I hate most with comic book villains (well a lot of them not all) is when they know they're a villain or evil. Sure there's some that know they're crooks but I don't think there's been too many people in real life who ever thought they were actually evil.

The only thing with that also is that Sinestro's committed crimes that can't be forgiven and I don't think there's many GL's who will forget about it. I can see Hal still wanting Sinestro to pay for his crimes. I'm really hoping he doesn't get a free pass over helping save the day during Blackest Night.

Maybe the Guardians will all die or be supplanted b6y Sinestro! A GLC run by him, I think Hal would lose it a second time.

Or maybe he'd just quit again...

True. Sinestro seems to be evil but in his point of view, he's just trying to make the universe safe and orderly the best way he knows how.

Well, look at Hal Jordan. Even though he's had the Renegade label taken off, there are Green Lanterns who still don't trust him. Imagine the conflict if you put in Sinestro? The interaction between him and his daughter for example would be very cool.

Tidy, clean and all of his magazines were in alphabetical order and organized by date. I also bet you would be in big trouble if you ate food in his room and got crumbs.

He would totally use his ring to analyze the crumbs for DNA and then crush the offender with giant green muffins! Because he was just that evil!

Green Lantern #47

Not as good as last issue but still pretty damn fun. No matter how repetitive these stories about Blackest Night have been, I come away with my hands shaking (kidding) and my eyes astonished (not kidding). It's good to have Green Lantern issues side-by-side adding more than just the DCU's "continuity porn" of loved-ones zombies coming back for blood. There are some interesting aspects between Hal, Carrol, and Sinestro here (does Sinestro really believe Hal's mention that he has no chance?) and Indigo-1 is constantly under the spotlight. We all saw the ending coming as some point and it's another issue where solicits/ads sorta destroy the final splash page. Can't say I'm not clamoring for the next book, however.

4/5 Bags&Boards - Excellent

More interestingly, I'm curious what will come out of this outside of seemingly resurrecting Coast City. It seems like standard fare when a whole planet has returned and when superpowered people of more devestating impact have already come back (and some defeated). Maybe I'm understating the importance of Coast City and such but it all seems like some sort of sensationalism and hype. I'm enjoying the story and will be looking forward to the rest of the series.

On a side note, I wonder, also, how will the memeory of the raised dead ever be salvaged, if ever.

The power of the white light will reconnect the true souls to their bodies, uniting with the remaining heroes to take down Nekron.

Just a guess, of course

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Personally I was imagining the white light resurrected heroes to show up and "salvage their memory" by putting up a fight before going back into the night.

Another side note, where was Pa Kent? He was the one I was looking forward to more than most.

Perhaps, like Dove, he is at peace and not able to be corrupted by the black ring? I could see him showing up under the white light to inspire the heroes (or more specifically, Superman)

I was assuming this. I'd hoped they would have talked about this or had Supes show some concern for this, but his attention is pretty occupied now so I can't fault them on this.
