First issue was a big, giant effing "meh". I almost looked back to check if I'm not accidentally reading a book from the early '90s. None of characters were likable and I don't get the logic behind that team. If at all, Magog could easily start a whole new team with new characters. Don't remember if I ever saw Williams' art before, but I couldn't stand it in this issue. Even the Letterer didn't care for this issue, resulting in some embarrassing swipe of word balloons between Katana, Damage, Cyclone and King Chimera. Not to mention, there was some bad storytelling involved (see the scene where Stargirl storms at the androids, claiming they don't want to attack her, when there was no sign of that prior to this one panel). If I thought that the last bunch of artists did a bad job portraying Wolfsbane in X-Factor (and then that ugly thing by Clayton Crain in X-Force), Williams came by and did worse with Wildcat II. Maybe it's because I haven't read JSoA in a long time, but I don't remember Hourman/Rick being so annoying. I'll put this one on Sturges's fault too.
