Wasn't too impressed by Battle Royale. Rent it if you enjoy digging into foreign movies as much as I like to do sometimes.

...:shrugs: I'm not fully sure what I've suggested. I remember P.S. And maybe I said Fear and Loathing... Sunshine Cleaning--have you seen that yet? I'm sure I've said a bunch, though.

I have yet to see A Scanner Darkly and Ink. Been really missing out on some surreal cinematography. And the stories seem like my type of stories.

I dunno, I think these are films avergae movie goers can get into

I especially recommend Misery, I'd say its one of the best Stephen King book adaptations ever

That's what I kind of meant. They're so universal that they should be a part of a movie-lover's reputar.

I haven't seen a ton, I like movies but I really don't care what's 'hot' unless it captures my interest. Going what you guys listed, I'll copy and paste.

They don't seem like familiar movie names to me. Either they never caught my attention due to the topic or topic or they're just old and I wasn't exposed to them. I wouldn't even name them if they weren't posted by someone else

*Actually looking at IMD, I think Heat was playing at somebody's house when I was doing a delivery yesterday and it looked pretty decent.

And some of these plots for the others sound pretty cool.

Wow! To have never heard of them...? Maybe I am more geeky than I thought.

Why is it so unbelievable? I never really knew anybody or came across anything that mentioned most of those movies or have them pimped out like some big franchise movie. Is it because they're highly praised cinema classics or something?

^ We're not making fun. There are tons of "classics" that I, or many, haven't seen. And I love movies. But ya, It's a Wonderful Life. Never met anyone who doesn't at least know what it is through parodies and such. A guy, down on his luck during Christmas, is shown a world, his town, without him in it by an angel. He then sees the error of his ways by seeing how much he's influenced others for the better and takes everything back and Christmas is saved by the humanity of others that he previously helped once he goes back to reality.

I don't miss alot of movies but one I can think of is Coligula. But I'm not even sure it's a must see.

^ You're not missing anything. Caught the middle of it at a friends house. It is literally just a porno with just as good acting. The true, uncut film can be irrationally off-putting for most audience members. I mean, picture all the fetish porn you can, add some things you'd forgotten, and you have nothing but an excuse for a pretentious porno. Very serious. Has basic pornographic acts but then gets into mock-incest, fisting, gays of both sexes going at it (Which if you're straight, that'd be pretty unappealing to see guys going at it), forced sex with slaves, and that was only the piece of the middle of the movie that I'd seen. It's a shock-film and nothing historical or noteworthy when it comes to cinema. Hell, even as the porno that it is, it still is boring and unerotic. It is just irking.

Well then I don't feel bad for not seeing it. One of my friends kept telling me..."Man you gotta see this! It's just whacked out!I think you'd love it." But then again he's not the deepest guy.

^ Ya, I've got friends like that. And don't be mistaken, I love my pulpy, surreal and/or weird films. Hell, nothing wrong with porn. But that movie is a waste of film and life's 2 hours.

And my friend, she loves history, and she, like I did, expected this taboo film to push the boundaries. All it did was just make us roll our eyes in disgust when we weren't bored. Although, she watched it all the way through, so...that shows her dedication. Heh.

You aren't, prescribeddrone just needs to get out from under his rock more often.

While I don't think it's completely unbelievable that you've never heard of them, I highly recommend doing what you can to see some of those you mentioned because you're really doing yourself a disservice by not watching them. I know older movies are a harder sell with our generation, so I won't bother, but The Graduate and Heat truly are two of the best movies ever made and are must-sees.
