I see The Hurt Locker winning, but I would like Inglourious Basterds to win.

Gonna watch A Serious Man and then I'll get back to this list. This is tough without that movie in my head *looks at Inglourious Basterds, D9 and Hurt Locker*.

If either Avatar, District 9, The Hurt Locker or Inglourious Basterds win, I will be happy

I'll go with the Hurt Locker.

Hurt Locker or Up In the Air

They added 5 to this category simply to get people to watch the Oscars again. Had to have some movies nominated that people had actually watched. District 9, Blind Side, Up, Inglourious Basterds and most of all Avatar really have no chance of winning.

Star Trek should have been nominated in place of Avatar (I know its not neat 3D but Star Trek was a much better movie) and Up should have only been nominated in the animated category.

Avatar will win, but The Hurt Locker deserves to win.

No way the Academy is THAT stupid.

^ Look at past Best Picture winners and the movies they beat out and then rethink that statement.

I'm just holding hope that they've learned from their past mistakes. Almost zero chances it'll be the case, but I'm still hoping.

No way that would happen. District 9 was much more critically acclaimed and would win if a sci fi movie were chosen which wont happen either way.

Wait until all these new 3d films start being released and Avatar is quickly forgotten. 3D effects were very cool but the movie wasnt anything great in any way besides said 3D effects.

Of all the movies nominated I've only seen Avatar and The Blind Side (District 9 and The Hurt Locker are in my Netflix Queue, so I'll be viewing them pretty soon). Out of Avatar and The Blind Side I MUCH preferred The Blind Side.

It would have been nice if Star Trek had been nominated, but I KNEW it wouldn't be.

After seeing A Serious Man I'm still thinking Hurt Locker will take it.

Next Saturday a movie theater by me is playing all 10 of the best picture nominees in a 24 hour marathon. I'm hoping to go to see some of them depending on when they are playing.

If Avatar wins I'm going to blow up Hollywood....at best it should have been nominated for Best Animated - and that's being generous.

I'm hoping there's enough of an Avatar backlash that The Hurt Locker takes the upset win. That will please me immensely!

Dammit! I hope this doesn't hurt The Hurt Locker's chances of winning Best Picture.

I'm actually glad that this guy has been barred, The Oscars should have no please vote for me advertising, it should always be about nothing but taste and excellence, obviously, this will never happen, it will always be a you scratch my back, somewhere down the line I'll scratch yours, or I didn't have time to see all the movies but I loved the ad they put in Variety. At the very least, this keeps sad and pety one on one (or one on hundreds lol) emails from entering the picture. Hopefully. Probabaly not but oh well.

As much as I love Avatar, I don't want it to win. Not because I don't think it deserves to win, but because if it did win it wouldn't be as meaningful, afterall Cameron has already won a boat load of Oscars.
However I don't neccesarily think Hurt Locker deserves to win either, its a good film but its not that good, also I found both District 9 and Inglorious to be far more entertaining.

Chartier sent an e-mail Feb. 19 to some academy members asking for their support for "The Hurt Locker," "not a "$500 million film" — an obvious reference to blockbuster best-picture contender "Avatar."
