I think Black Hand TOOK the skull so Batman COULDN'T be re-animated. It seems there's enough of the individual's character being retained that a zombie Batman would likely break through the Anti-Monitor's control and lead the Zombie league to victory. Hell, I'm not sure that ISN'T how this will end.

He's had his mitts on both a GL and Yellow rings, so a black ring on bruce... that'd be dangerous.

Makes you wonder if Zombie Bats would still be mopey over his parents though.

I thought the first issue was incredible. I love how the Black Lanterns aren't your
predictable run-of-the-mill zombies but actually keep the characteristics and attitude of
whoever they once were. Ralph was a great example of that. I cannot wait to see a
Black Lantern Jonathan Kent. The scene with the Hawks was brutal but cool none the less.
I am getting everything Blackest Night related so I from this issue I know I am in for one
heck of a ride. Cannot wait.

Do you really think that the skull is Batman's? We did see that he is alive at the end of Final Crisis. I'm sure that skull is going to play a big part in Blackest Night, we did see

I don't think it's the great story everyone is calling it. While entertaining (minus the dozens of pages spent on remembering the loved ones, talking about the revived ones and knowing all those dead bodies will soon walk again), it's nothing more than a superhero zombie tale I doubt Schwartz and co. would have ever published.

Frankly, I'm sick of all events right now (Dark Reign - while being just a "label" - stretched too much, the Messiah War x-over was lame and the Utopia x-over is overrated).

Speaking of Blackest Night, the main book was decent despite the brutality that passes so easily nowadays as good storytelling, compared to Tales of the Corps #1. The Blue Lantern story was nice mostly thanks to the art, the Mongul Jr. story was okay but didn't have much to do with the main event and... what the hell was that Indigo Tribe story about?

Anyway, I just wish they could have done a crossover or event story without any need to increase the death toll, and in the case of BN death has become totally ridiculous.

One may argue that Blackest Night is just "DC Zombies," but I love how Johns is writing it, and, wow, Ivan Reis can draw a portrait of a nude Rosie O'Donnell and it would be beautiful.

Please don't give DC ideas...

Ivan Reis' time at Chaos! Comics has him all perfected to do The Black Lanterns zombie-look. I remember he did the art for the big Chaos! Comics "Armageddeon" big event and it was slick as get out.

Sorry Tomer...as someone who pretty much just jumped into the DC universe (I only touched on a few random series here & there, Batman/Superman, Hush, Man for Tomorrow, Goddamned Batman & Robin - only when an artist I like was involved)...reading GL#43, BN#0, BN#1, and Tales of the Corps.#1 -

I fucking love it so far.

Makes me want to go back and check out that big "Lantern War" that just happened, where they introduced all the different colors...

I'm digging it quite a bit and I cringe every time I hear someone refer to is as DC Zombies, as if Blackest Night and Marvel Zombies are even remotely similar.

with the special edition of GL first flight there is an interview about the blackest night. looking forward to seeing it

Walking Dead is a phenomenal book, but I have absolutely zero interest in Marvel Zombies, so I really hope these aren't that similiar...
