I don't know as i'd trust blunt objects like a few of you have picked.
I'm a fairly strong guy but zombies tend to keep coming. I want limbs lopped off at every opportunity....!

But blunt objects don't require near the amount of skill and precision edged weapons need to be effective with. I don't know if I can cut a head off in the middle of a zombie clusterfuck, but I've no doubt I can crack some skulls.

But, if you have a farmer's scythe, like I chose, you wouldn't need to be accurate. A good waist level sweep could take out two or three of the buggers, or at least cleave them in half, so all you'd need to do is deliver a stomp to the skull to finish them off.

Yeah, but What if you're in an enclosed space?

You need a lot of room to swing that shit. That's why I tend to shy away from full size swords, axes, and sledghammers.

Personally, I still think it'd take a fair amount of skill to efficiently handle such an unwieldy weapon, at the very least more skill than I think I possess. Plus, because of it's size it could be harder to implement in tighter spaces and in the end, I'm just lazy and wouldn't want to carry it around. More power to anyone who could use it effectively, but I think it'd be more of a hindrance than a help for me.

Since destruction of the brain pan is what's necessary, I don't understand all the blades. I wouldn't want a bunch of zombie heads biting at my ankles. Plus, if you're dealing with some sort of virus-type situation, an open, accidentally-self-inflicted wound leaves you open for infection.

My Thor hammer makes much more sense. No noise to attract other roamers, no chance of cutting yourself, and will destroy the brain pan, even in an enclosed space.

That's why rather than a katana or some crap like that, I chose either Kukris or hatchets.

With the Kukri, the weight of the blade is at the end, so I could get a good whack right through the top of a zombie skull. Same with the hatchet. The hatchet also has many more uses.

Plus, they're both relatively small and light, and easily carried.
