Also, everything depends on exactly what type of zombies we're dealing with here. With some, yeah, you gotta destroy the brain. With others, decapitation is enough, and sometimes you don't even need to do that.

Yeah, but What if you're in an enclosed space?
You need a lot of room to swing that shit. That's why I tend to shy away from full size swords, axes, and sledghammers.
Points well taken, Gandicles, I'll be carrying a few handguns and smaller bladed weapons just in case.Joshua wrote:Personally, I still think it'd take a fair amount of skill to efficiently handle such an unwieldy weapon, at the very least more skill than I think I possess. Plus, because of it's size it could be harder to implement in tighter spaces and in the end, I'm just lazy and wouldn't want to carry it around. More power to anyone who could use it effectively, but I think it'd be more of a hindrance than a help for me.deadbolt85 wrote:But, if you have a farmer's scythe, like I chose, you wouldn't need to be accurate. Hatchets, FTW, that's why I've got two of them worn in a holster below the two desert eagles.Gandicles wrote:That's why rather than a katana or some crap like that, I chose either Kukris or hatchets.
With the Kukri, the weight of the blade is at the end, so I could get a good whack right through the top of a zombie skull. Same with the hatchet. The hatchet also has many more uses.
Plus, they're both relatively small and light, and easily carried.
superdoug wrote:Since destruction of the brain pan is what's necessary, I don't understand all the blades. I wouldn't want a bunch of zombie heads biting at my ankles. Plus, if you're dealing with some sort of virus-type situation, an open, accidentally-self-inflicted wound leaves you open for infection.
My Thor hammer makes much more sense. No noise to attract other roamers, no chance of cutting yourself, and will destroy the brain pan, even in an enclosed space.
Gay guy FTW.

As for the Mossberg, It would be an effective weapon due to it's one shot kill capabilities in close quarters and potential to hit multiple targets. The only drawback is the slow reload. Thus you would need a backup weapon while you find a nice quiet spot to reload without getting eaten.
