DC Universe Online

Holy Shit! I've never been this excited about a video game before, but this thing looks frigging AWESOME!! For those who don't know about this yet, it's a MMORPG set inside the DCU. You don't get to play as Bats or Supes or any other DC character, but you can build your character based on one. The DC heros and villans do appear, and you can fight with/against them, depending on whether you choose to be a hero or villan.

Yeah, I played this at NY Comic Con 2009, it's pretty much the only MMORPG I'd ever be interested in getting.

i've been very much anticipating this but a question arises; would this be a monthly charge game or is this a take home and still be online with other people like this game my sister's boyfriend has (i think it's called Guild Wars). i hope it's the latter instead of the former but if it is the former it'll be another reason to try to get a job.

Yep. A few months ago, I was vaguely interested in getting Champions Online, but the monthly charge for something that I had no idea how many people would be interested in held me back. DCUO brings an audience with it, and from all the excitement buzzing around it, I think this is the one to go for.

I don't mind a small monthly charge, but would prefer a free environment. It will also be interesting to see if they can manage to get the PC users and the PS3ers on the same server.

Everything's still really hush hush about it. They still haven't even announced a release date.

I'm pretty sure it'll be free.... if not how much do we expect? Because I don't play games every single day, so something like 4.99 a month would be fine but 20 bucks a month, I dunno. I do hope it is free though.

I'm curious how customizable the characters are. More specifically, can I make any color lantern I want or am I limited to just green lantern? Can I even make a fairly functional lantern? I'm hoping to make a grey lantern/Apathy Corps, for the lulz, and for even more lulz. And are we limited to one character only? A lot of free mmos allow for the creation of more than one character.

Darn, missed it too. Would've liked much more info than is out there for this.

Apparently they will release a video of the whole thing, so we'll get a chance to hear some of the info first-hand.

I wonder what the limitations on fighting NPC characters are? I want to fight Superman one day and Doomsday the next. I'll be that guy trying to fight all the NPC characters by myself just to say I did.

BTW, I think one can make a character similar to Thor (in appearance). The screenshots for the game have someone who likes him but with a sword. And since The Shield and Guardian is are DC characters, a Captain America-esque character is doable. A Thor/Captain America merged character.

it should be cool to see what everyone comes up with.
