What Anime are you Watching?

Having seen both, highly recommend it. I also recommend from that genre Shigurui: Death Frenzy and both Afro Samurai films.

I just started watching Sailor Moon in it's original format. All 200 episodes and all the movies, gonna be on this one for awhile.

I didn't think it was illegal because it is like letting a friend barrow a movie or what-have-you. ...where do you go to download a good torrent program?

I've no idea the legality of it all save that in Japan, this concept is rather laxed. You see, a show airs, it goes on-line: fine. When it comes to DVD, it's sold at such a low price with guaranteed quality to the public that it'd be stupid to buy it bootleg. American distributors have to learn this lesson considering they often still sell a season of a show for around $60 which runs for $30, sometimes $20, on the open market (or worse, a DVD with five episodes for the same price forcing consumers to wait around a year for a collected edition at a "reduced rate").

Now, this use to be a problem in Asia when VHS dominated the market and pirates made VCDs (video CDs) for next to nothing. However, this is mute in wake of the invention of the DVD.

In any event, Japan really doesn't care as long as it doesn't hurt the bottom line all that much. However, when an American distributor licenses an anime, they get fucking crazyhouse apeshit bananas and try to cut all on-line content of a property like it was cancer. However, with things like YouTube, Veoh, and especially now with torrents, it's a losing battle. They say the anime industry in the US is in its death knell and the internet is to blame, but I think the distributors are at fault. FUNimation is making ends meet and outlasting giants in the industry (I think Bandai and Viz is about their only competition left) despite the practice of releasing single DVDs, but they make it work by religating singles to popular shows and doing most shows on the cheap in affordable box sets.

Regardless, with all of this in mind, I can not recommend uTorrent because its illegal to download most shows.

Gantz is about people who died who were evil or simply didn't do the right thing in key moments of their lives and who return with advanced weapons and are forced to fight aliens under penalty of being dead again. At least, that's what I gathered from the first episode.

^ Hrm. Seems the premise is a hardcore take off of Karma. I'm intrigued.

Events at the college are largely defined by the presence of my club. We have the funnest club at the college, we stand for nothing but having a good time, and we accomplish nothing.

Angel Links.

Where to start. This was one of the worst animes I think I've sat through. Angel Links is vaguely in the Outlaw Star universe with this 13 episode series. First off--and not to downgrade O.S.--but why would they make a spin-off of a series that'd already been cancelled. The voice-acting was pretty rough, the written dialogue was mechanical with terrible pacing, and it seemed like many things were lost in translation. This is to Outlaw Star fans: Keep your blissful ignorance of this series, it doesn't expand O.S., it just has a couple of brief cameos from side-characters from that series and a few references and terminologies when dealing with tech and planets and junk. Came off as the worst parts of Sailor Moon, with its long transformation and lift-off sequences that are just recycled each episode. And on that point, it was a bit too...it was annoyingly girly (preteen girly) at times. Just bad. Really disappointed me.

I'm thinking about picking up Moonphase from work. We just marked it down to 30 dollars for the complete series, and I get a 30% discount on top of it, so $22.50 with tax for the complete thing. I saw the first episode on Funimation.com, it seemed like something I would like.

As with Witchblade, I thought it got much better towards the end.
