A fictional character who was a publisher who ran on his own hubris; the lead in 'Citizen Kane', which is loosely based on the life of William Randolph Hearst, grandfather of famous kidnappee/terrorist Patty Hearst.

Easy...not everyone has seen the movie, or is initmately familiar with it. The younger the person, the less chance there is that they've seen it.

I thought everyone knew that...have we inadvertently dug up the one person never to have seen that film?!?

I've never seen Citizen Kane...but I'm aware it exists.

Gareb's last words, "Buttercow..."

I'd never seen the movie either, but when I saw Kane in this context, I Wiki'd Citizen Kane and... sure enough... found the lead character's name.

More importantly... "Buttercow..." is GENIUS!

Don't think I ever watched it either, but it's the kind of thing that everybody knows even without actually watching the movie.

Obviously not, since our young Spidey 14 didn't know it. I think you can know about the film, and even what the premise of the film is without knowing that the protagonist's full name is Charles Foster Kane.

Yeah, I'm really glad he pulled this little stunt, cause I was talking to Lee the other day and SAID "Gareb Shameless" and then I was like "SHIT! I wish I had some reason to be tlaking about him on the site, cause I'd totally call him that" Then, this happened. I should start wishing for things that matter.

You're joking, but my heart just stopped for a second. And seriously, all of you, watch the damn movie. How did you study film and not HAVE to watch that movie at some point, K?

When I studied Cinema 101 as part of my computer animation course couple of years ago, we were asked to watch certain films for technical reasons and crappy movies to learn from their mistakes. It was all about technicals and not classics or quality at all.

(Although watching the first confrontation between Arnold and Robert Patrick in T2 just for the amount of camera shots is quite nice.)

Hey, T2 rocks. This is quantifiable scientific fact.

He went to a progressive school. Just because a movie is declared the greatest movie of all time doesn't mean it is the greatest movie of all time.

While I've got nothing against Citizen Kane and will probably see it someday, I'm in no hurry.

I heard that Gareb Shamus is going to build a time machine and replace all of the actors in T2 with wrestlers and BSG actors, so that his cons will be considered the greatest of all time in 2009 and beyond.

Agreed. I appreciate what it is, but I doubt it's disappearing any time soon. I mean, is Megan Fox even in Citizen Kane??? Give me a reason!

Wow....

I think Pop! should do an article on how the comic book industry CHANGED after they started hitting the silver screen. That were (I think) all this business competition is coming from.
