Powerful Films

That looks about right, though Avatar hasn't even come out yet. By Nine, do they mean the animated movie or that musical that's coming out?

On a related note, I hope to check out A Serious Man soon.

I don't think Up or Avatar will be nominated, but it's premature of me to call out Avatar since no one has seen it yet. Up will win for Best Animated feature, obviously.

I'm excited about Up in the Air. It looks like it will be closer in tone to Thank you For Smoking and less like Juno.

And this thread is becoming too much movies I enjoy. I love alot of movies, but very few are what I would describe as powerful. Like, change my life and views powerful.

I think "Powerful" could just mean movies that affected you in some way or another.

Then Twilight is a powerful movie, because it certainly affected me, just not in any way that any good movie should.

I'm still sticking with my refusal to see any of the Twilight movies.
