I can finally poke my head in here, at least for a few weeks until season 5 begins.

As the season 4 finale was wrapping up I couldn't figure out why so many people were losing their shit over it. It was a great season, sure, but there was nothing so revelatory as to make me lose control over my bowels. About the time that train of thought concluded, the last two minutes of the show happened and I shit my brain out my ass.

As for the future of the series, I don't have a time frame in mind, but I would like to see Dexter inevitably get caught. I'd still like a season of him taking out the trash, but eventually I'd really be into a huge trial, seeing all of his friends/colleagues reactions (and seeing Doakes get exonerated), and seeing Dexter head off to prison. I'd even be down for a season that takes place with him in prison, but I'd be surprised if the show ever went that far.

The show only has two logical endings: A trial, or Dexter getting snuffed (or both). I think a "trial of the century" angle would be brilliant, with Dexter cast as the anti-hero in the public's eyes, and he somehow gets off by the same technicalities that brought him so many victims over the years. Then, someone takes HIM out.

If Dexter gets caught, I will accept one and only person to bring him in: Deb.

Agreed. She's already pieced together that he is brother to the Ice Truck Killer, so it would be a logical progression for her to figure the rest out. Quinn seems to be filling the Doakes role, so it would make sense for him to give Deb a push in the right direction, assuming some British trollop doesn't blow him up before then.

As far as I know Dexter never legally adopted Rita's kids, so I'm interested to see how their custody plays out. Will they continue to live together or will they move in with the grandparents? Or worse yet, will Rita's mom move back to help him out?

Waiting until the season 5 DVD is going to be rough.

Well, it was quite a good opener.

There was a lot of emotional drama and no thrill, so they had to do at least one killing before the end, even it was unplanned and against the code. Dexter's succumbing to his emotions and breaking down afterwards, in the "presence" of Harry, was a an excellent scene.

It was mostly a farewell episode for Rita, but I still liked the way the memories of her were what brought Dexter into finally choosing his family over running away. Throughout the lies (from the very beginning, no less) and his dire attempts to be human, Dexter really loved Rita and got his softest side out thanks to her.

What I didn't like was Astor's quick reaction and judgment of Dexter, although she was partially right. Dexter telling Paul's parents (IIRC, Rita said they're Paul's parents in the last episode of last season) to keep enjoying the day with the kids was surreal, but I get the logic behind it. It could as well have been Cody and Astor's last happy day before hearing they're orphans. More surreal was Dexter sitting with the Micky Mouse hat on his head and delivering Rita's family the awful news. I almost laughed.

I also didn't like Debra and Quinn doing it. I hope they won't become more than partners. These kind of plots are boring. See Angel and Maria. Bleh...

Quinn was at least right about one thing: Dexter's colleagues and friends are too close to the case to act like real detectives and smell the fishy details. It doesn't matter that Dexter is not the killer, but real cops would've investigated him just in case.

With that, I imagined during the episode Dexter coming clean to Quinn, telling him that the Trinity Killer really killed Rita but he's already dead. "How do you know that?" Quinn would ask. "I killed him."

I agree with everything you said Tomer, except for the Quinn/Debra thing. The sexual tension between those two have been there since he first came on. It was only a matter of time. I am actully glad they finally did it, it is about time. Now, as far as it being something that leads to a realtionship, that is a differnt story. I don't want to see them together, but I can defnitly see them more being fuck buddies.

Ugh... it won't end well (fuck-buddies or an actual couple)...

What if...what if Deb knew all along about Dexter? What if Harry had been preparing Deb just as he trained Dexter?

She's loyal to her brother almost to a fault. I'd think the best way for her to "catch" him and let him go would be if she were in on it from the word jump.

Intresting, this season is taking parts of season 2 plots (Doakes investigating Dexter) and season 3 plots (Dexter taking on a partner in killing) and giving them a new twist. I like it. Peter Weller is doing a fantastic job as a scumbag dirty cop and Deb's headshot was just awesome, but I have a feeling that she is going to be defnitly haunted by that.

I didn't care for the Deb/Quinn hookup when it started even though you could see it coming from his first appearnce on the show, but it is starting to actully develop into something that may be good for both their characters.

I had to go to the 3rd page to find this thread. I am disappointed in all of you who have such boners for this show.


This is the first season of the series I'm truly enjoying. I'd love to hear thoughts and theories on how they'll end season 5 and who you think will end up in a hefty bag.


Is the show renewed for a season 6? 7?

I am pretty sure that Peter Weller is gonna end up in a bag and for some reason, I have a feeling it may be Deb that does it. Deb tasted a kill this season, we have yet to see her really recover from it, she is starting to show a bit of bloodlust when it comes to the five douchebags. I like that Dexter has finally found someone, but I can't help thinking that it is going to end in doom. Either she is going to flip out and think Dexter is going to need the treatment or she is gonna get caught in some kind off crossfire.

I am really enjopying this season, the whole Deb and Quinn are gonna walk into Dex and Lumin (SP?) doing a kill had me at the edge of my seat even though I had a feeling they were in the house next door.

I have a distinct feeling Deb is going to take out Jordan Chase on the sly. And then her, Dexter, and Lumen will have something to talk about!

Liddy has no credibility. He's a non-factor, but he's fucking AWESOME.

I kinda wish they'd kept Emily around for a little longer. She was so fucked up, she didn't get enough screen time.

Without having seen the preview for next week, my predictions: Deb will take down Jordan. Probably with more force than necessary. She may give Lumen the opportunity to get away, they've really been playing up her empathy for the Barrel Girls and hinting at an almost blood lust after her kill shot - I think that is going to be a big theme for season 6. Lumen getting killed or going to prison is 50/50 at this point. Deb and Quinn will get back together and the whole happy family will be in Orlando for Harrison's birthday.

It's still bugging the hell out of me - where is Deb living?

I agree with you on Deb and her bloodlust. Something will come from it.

As for where Deb's living, I would assume she's pouting on Quinn's couch. She still digs him, but he fucked up.

It was a good way to end the season, but I was a bit dissapointed that there was no "cliffhanger" ending. I have gotton so used to cliffhangers that I expect them now even though they irritate me. It seemed as if they ended the season unsure if they were going renewed.

I was dissapointed that Lumen left, but can understand why she did. She had her closure.

I feel that Lagurdia (sp?) and now Quinn realize that Dexter may be alot more then just a blood guy. I hope that this is something they pick up and go with in the next season. I was a bit let down this season with the lack of Masuka, he seemed to be barely in this season.

Next season should also focus on the bigger mystery, Deb, her knowledge about the woman her father was with (Dex's mom) and the bigger mystery....where the heck was she staying? I know she was pissed at Quinn, but I find it strange that she would be all, "I hate you you fucker, but I need a fucken place to fucken crash, so Imma fucken sleep on your fucken couch you piece of shit asshole that was spying on my fucken brother while we were fucking."
