Read #0 the other day. It was good, but not great. Who did the interiors? I know it's different people but it's not listed to whom did what story.

I thought it was all Fernando Pasarin with different inkers.

Brightest Day #0 was a decent setup to this storyline...it did what it was intended to do, which is to get me interested in the characters and want to read more. The questions it posed will no doubt be answered soon.

I'll keep this simple to avoid spoilers, but I loved everything about this. It reminds me of the goodness that was 52, and I'm thrilled to see where all these pieces are going. Great stuff!

I'm super interested in all the characters, even ones I normally don't care for (like Firestorm).

I can't wait to see what's up with Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.


So, did anybody get the white ring? My LCS didn't have any. They said there was some sort of problem, and that they were not the only store not to get them. I don't know if the problem was nationwide or just in my area.

We didn't get them either. Got anemail from DC saying basically that Diamond screwed something up royally and if you got them, great. If not there are no more to be had. I don't know if they're being conservative or what, but they went as far to say they are willing to discuss on a case by case basis with accounts what they may want as compensation for the screw up.

There were a fair number of retailers on retaile boards yesterday making deals amongst each other for extra bags of rings they may have. Given how widespread the situation is, I'm sure those that are willing to trade/sell bags of rings to each other are already out. You never know, though.

I this point I think I just want DC to reimburse me everytime I explain this story to people and why we don't have rings. I have almost 40 people that were expecting them today.

But yes, the issue was pretty great.

Brightest Day #1

I have a few complaints about this new issue. Mainly, the Hawkman and Hawkgirl section. I just couldn't find myself to care about them all too much. It is an interesting idea, just "meh" with me. Firestorm was a bit better, wanted some more about him though. Aquaman's and Manhunter's sections kicked ass, don't want to spoil, but those two are just pure kick ass. Deadman, well, I just want some god damn more.

Art was pretty nice, hopefully the rest of the run is of this quality.

4/5 for me.

#1 was great. Since when is Aquaman bulletproof though? I don't think I even acknowledged that.

Hmm I found this somewhat underwhelming, I guess. I liked some parts a lot, like the ones with Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, but the others not so much. The stories for Firestorm and the Hawks have yet to make me care. I liked the beginning with the White Lantern, Hal, and Sinestro though. It reminded me of when Thor's hammer fell in the desert awhile back and nobody could lift it lol. Also, will be interesting to see how they juggle the stories of the 12 resurrected characters and who will get how much facetime.

I liked this issue.

I've always felt it was a little spot on that Black Manta was in fact a black guy. He's like the Al Sharpton of the sea, but he has a big fuck-all helmet instead of a jehri curl.

IIRC, his skin is tougher in order to deal with the ocean depths.

I wonder if Hath-Set is still possessing Kristopher Roderic?

Indeed, he has enhanced durability and strength because of adjusting to the crushing weight of the ocean depths.

Plus, I think they're making his and Mera's outfits more like chainmail armor rather than just being scaly clothes.. which I think is a great idea.

He's not bulletproof but his skin can withstand the depths of the ocean so I guess he ca take some bullets. I thought his reaction to what he summoned was awesome and a tad heartbreaking. I got a strange feeling that Ronnie and Jason are stuck with each other for the foreseeable future which should prove to be fairly interesting. The Hawkman and Hawkwoman thing was pretty cool. I also liked the stuff with Hal, Carol and Sinestro. Great first issue.

Man, all of that Hawkman series (minus Byrne's done-in-one) was awesome.

Black Manta stole that issue for me.
