Years ago, a black guy was hitting on me, and did it in the most round about way. He asked me if I would be interested in dating his 'friend'. When I said maybe, he then asked if it mattered if his friend was black. My response: "Frank, I'm gay. I can't afford to be prejudiced, too."
As more and more people come out of the closet and homosexuality loses its taboo, the gay community has become somewhat more accepting of the diverse members of its community. However, once upon a time it wasn't like that. Transsexuals weren't included in the community, as they were 'freaks' of a sort. Black gays had their bars, white gays had theirs, lesbians had theirs, and ne'er the three did meet. But, as our sense of community grows, so do our horizons, and prejudices that were strong twenty years ago aren't as prevalent. To be fair, though, it's been at least six years since I was in the bar scene, so I may be talking through my hat.
Gays, in my experience, still tend to be highly judgmental in regards to closeted gays, gays that identify as 'straight-acting' (a personal pet peeve of mine), conservatives, and Christians. Although, two out of four of those groups give them good cause.
