A great example of why I hate people

Now granted, Fast and Furious opened on nearly double the screens as Adventureland and it was PG-13, versus Adventureland's R, but the fact that F&F made $72 million domestically in its opening weekend and Adventureland made $6 million reminds me just why I have such a loathing for people in general: they're all idiots who need everything spoonfed them and littered with 'splosions. Normally I really wouldn't care because hey, everyone digs something differennt, but it's these kind of performances that dictate what kind of movies people want from studios, and clever movies seem to be at the bottom of the list.

If you love good movies please, go support Adventureland because Greg Mottola and crew all deserve some recognition.

I want to see Adventureland, but I'm actually intrigued to see Fast and Furious.

Fair enough. If you can, please try and see Adventureland in the theater. Its worth the higher priority. The problem with a quiet and unassuming gem is that because I'm raving about it it's sure to fail everyone's expectations, but dammit, it's just that good. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I left the theater.

I'd like to get in a double feature of I Love You Man and Adventureland....but I don't see it happening.

From the commercials, it looked like nothing more than Superbad in an amusement park. Am I missing something? :huh

Yep. Like many other great movies the advertisement people are too stupid to come up with a decent marketing plan. I imagine they figured the only way to get people into the theater was to play up the fact that its by the same director as Superbad by showing some of the more zany moments, rather than the levels of intelligence and depth the movie holds within. It's rare that I do this much urging for people to go see a movie, but this is one I think needs the help of word of mouth because their marketing people are such 'tards.

I think I'll make this my next review for my paper.

Well, sorry you want vague plots littered with cursing and nudity... Maybe if you started liking the mainstream movies more, you wouldn't have this problem.

I thought you were sad because everyone was seeing F&F. And I'm not offended... I'm not sure how you got that from my post.

I could care less if people want to see cars go VROOM, I just think it's a shame how much more attention mindless popcorn flicks get over truly original and clever movies.

Here is the thing, a good friend of mine is a manager at our local theater.He told me the whole crew was able to watch adventureland a week before it's release.I just went to his theater to see I LOVE YOU MAN (it was freaking funny,and a brilliant movie) and talked to him and his theater crew.Mostit of them HATED the flick.One Popcorn serving kid yelled "It's not even like SuperBad" , I freaking hat that.Since SuperBad's name is on a commercial and it is the same director,they swear they are getting a sequel.Adeventureland looks like a Indie movie with some funny parts and I am down with that,
As far as F and F,I have a soft spot for pointless films.I say pointless as in it doesn't get my brain going as I watch it.With F and F I like to just shut my brain off and enjoy the ......ride?

Just to set the record straight... neither F&F nor Adventureland got my ass into a theater seat. I just think it is pointless to complain about what other movies people watch... if it really mattered that much, Kevin Smith wouldn't have made his last three movies. And where was the outcry when Tyler Perry's Madea goes to Jail was number one like three weeks in a row?

I just watched the preview of "Crank: High Voltage" now I hate people too.

Well, they didn't exactly operate within the realm of reality in the first movie....

Why the hell would they steal his heart and give him an electric heart? An electric heart that is recharged by electrifying your whole body!?

Calling Crank 2 an action movie would be like calling a porno a romantic comedy.

I heard that fast and furious is a fantastic story with brilliant character developement

and that dragonball evolution film I heard its a great adaptation of a classic manga and all the fans love it

Adventureland looks all good and quirky but it doesn't look worth 10 bucks. Fast and Furious promises me all the goodness I enjoyed from the first Fast and the Furious film. And I paid full price back then.

Adventureland seems more of a matinee showing or dollar theater visit than a friday/saturday night event. Sorry man, but fuck all if I don't want to risk my hard earned dollars on that flick to end up only enjoying the 30 or so minutes of Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader's scenes.
