I can't even bring myself to read issue #700 because I'm so completely and utterly sick of Morrison on Batman. Though I will say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cover. I've loved it since the moment I saw it a few months back. That's why I used it for my avatar.

I thought Batman #700 was amazing. I loved how he did three interweaving stories between Bruce & Dick, Dick and Damian and then Damian. It was well done and the twist at the end of the Damian story was very interesting. I loved the pinup gallery at the end. This was indeed very well done.

Well, I read issue #700. I went in with as open a mind as I could. I'll give you guys one guess as to whether or not I liked it.

Well, if you guessed that I didn't like it you're correct. I'm sorry, but I am just NOT a fan of Morrison's writing. I don't like his style AT ALL.

I hated what he did with baby Terry McGinnis.

I'm done with Morrison. I'm just done. I may get the next couple of issues of Batman that he's writing because I don't want to break up my run (it's nowhere near a complete run, but I do have every issue since I started reading comics and I don't want to break that), but from now on if I see his name attached to a book I'm avoiding it like the plague. I'm tired of wasting money on stuff I hate.

Also, it just felt forced. There was no reason that Terry should have been kidnapped as a kid and rescued by Batman/his brother. It was like they wanted there to be another tie between Terry and the Bat-family. No one knew that Terry was Bruce's biological son. I HIGHLY doubt that the guy that kidnapped him found out (assuming he even knows that Bruce was Batman, which is doubtful). So, why Terry? What was HE kidnapped? If it was stated in the book it went over my head.

I'm getting really curious about how exactly Batman Beyond is tying into the main DCU. I was originally under the impression that Batman Beyond was going to be the future of one of the other Earths, but this issue implies that it is indeed the future of the main DCU. This makes me wonder what modifications to the Batman Beyond continuity to make it fit. Is Terry still Bruce's biological son?

Multi *cough*hypertime*cough* versity Batman - Page 5 29517 But I guess you won't be reading that.

Seriously I'm really sorry you didn't enjoy 700 as much as some of us did Bats. I think you've made the right decision regarding Morrison's books though, Comics (particularly this one) are just too expensive to be buying ones you don't like.

Oh. I can see the point in that but it also was kind of cool in that he was destined to become the new Batman but I do see your point.

I'm not sure whether or not the Batman Beyond Universe is supposed to be the main DC future or some alternate Earth future. I am kind of hoping it's an alternate Earth to be honest but I don't think it's going to bother me one way or the other. It is good that your not buying the things you don't like. Comics are too expensive to buy books you don't like.

^Sorry if I spoiled anything for you.

It wasn't revealed that Bruce was Terry's biological father until the Justice League Unlimited episode "Epilogue", which takes place 15 years after the conclusion of Batman Beyond.

Amanda Waller decided that the world needed Batman, and when she saw that Bruce was slowing down/getting older she decided to make a new one. The name of the project to make a new Batman was "Project Batman Beyond". She got Bruce's DNA from the battlefield. She found a young couple with psychological profiles nearly identical to Bruce's parents, and injected Warren McGinnis with a nanotech solution programmed to re-write his reproductive material into an exact copy of Bruce Wayne's. Making Bruce Terry's biological son.

Years later Waller sent the Phantasm (Andrea Beaumont, first seen in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm) to kill Terry's parents. She thought that tragedy was the second half of the equation to making a Batman. The Phantasm couldn't go through with it, and Waller decided that it was wrong to kill the parents. Derek Powers (Bruce's business partner) would later have Terry's father murdered, resulting in Terry becoming the new Batman.

See this is what I don't get about you. You cite the above convoluted, forced, techno-babble heavy and quite frankly unreadable continuity porn. (I gave up after 'The name of the project to make a new Batman was "Project Batman Beyond". Well first of all, sorry for the error. While I did know the whole story I copied the Wikipedia entry on Bruce being Terry's biological father, and then edited it down so it was more concise, and to save me from having to write the whole thing out. I missed my error.

Second, I don't think it's convoluted or unreadable. I think it's pretty straight forward. Despite my error I don't see what is so hard to understand about it.

The problem I have with Morrison is he makes these leaps out of nowhere. Instead of going from A to B he goes from A to O. I don't think he explains things well enough. Things just pop up out of nowhere.

I will say that there are some convoluted stories out there that I get. Just because it's convoluted doesn't mean it's incomprehensible. With Morrison, there are convoluted stories of his that aren't THAT hard to get. However, the majority of his work that I've read is. I just don't get his style. Maybe my brain works in a different way than others?Wink Some writers just don't click with some readers. One person can see a story clearly while another can see it as a convoluted mess that makes no sense. I can't explain it better than that.

I can get complex stories, but his are just too insane for me to follow most of the time.

Here's a little picture to explain how I see Morrison's writing:
