Having never read the book, nor do I really intend to, I really like this movie.
Hit Girl's cussin bothered me a bit as she's only 12 yrs old, but that's the only part that bothered me.
Lots of action.
Good development of the characters.

It's recieved a slew of bad reviews and some positive. Course, this isn't for everybody, and today's critics are mostly obsolete.

Actually it seems to be receiving majority positive reviews, 77% positive on rotten tomatoes currently.

Roger Ebert did call it "morally reprehensible" though.

^ I was talking famed critics. But yeah, RottenTomatoes "hates" everything. So this is a good sign.

I'm currently reading the comic and it's fucking wicked so far. When I heard they were making a movie I thought "This will defiantly be R rated". I'll probably go see this sometime during the weekend.

The only reviewers you should care about are right here on PoP!, so don't pay attention to the rest of them.

I'll be black sheep here but I have to say, I was entertained but I can't really say I liked the movie.

I think the movie felt forced. I have no problems with violence, swearing or kids who do either but it got old fast. The language more then the violence. I'm not that far out of high school to know kids don't talk like that. There was spurts of good writing (the Lost comment was great) but it seemed to me they relied on swearing and showing hit girl kill people then making a good script.

I also felt NOTHING for Big Daddy or Hit Girl. Two characters who commit unneeded murder more then once. Hard for me to root for them. Kick Ass was a good likable character though. Red Mist also showed promise for what was a limited role really (as a superhero).

Lastly in my opinion I feel there are much better movies that deal with the situations the movie present. Nerdy person becoming superhero: Spider-Man is a better movie. Kids swearing: South Park is a better movie. Kids killing: Leon is a better movie. Mistaken Identity: El Mariachi is a better movie.

2 1/2 stars for me.

I love that Mika song in the credits so damn much...

I'm considering buying the soundtrack just for that song

I hate Mika, but despite his presence on the soundtrack I loved the movie and say its a 4/5.

Going to check this film out on Sunday, can't wait. Rotten tomatoes has this film at almost 80% and IMDB has it 8.4/10, so it looks like those who didn't like it are the minority. Even Fandango has it rated well. I once read a column by a critic who had something to say to people who hated a movie that was predominantly liked by everyone else. It read as so, "You now have to ask yourself.....what is it about me that makes me incapable of seeing what everyone else is enjoying?, it may take you the rest of your life to figure that one out". I wish I could remember this guy's damn name, some of his reviews were hilarious.

I didnt like this movie at all. Im starting to grow tired of comic inspired movies (but I still see pretty much every one in the off chance that Dark Knight happens again) and thought this one might be something different from the norm. The movie was overly Kill Bill gore with ultra violence and foul mouths. Sounds like it might work since I love the Kill Bills but this one didnt. U dont care about any of the characters and only pay attention when Hit girl is tearing bad guys up or using profanities.

I was excited from the previews I saw (minus Nick Cage who I loath) but the movie pretty much sucked.

Waiting for Iron Man now.
